I'm hopefully not halfway through my life yet and I think the actor depends on what sort of a life it turns out to be. Lots and lots of actors have passed through my head hoping to be me, since I posed this question but I keep coming back to one: Matt Dillon. I saw lots of myself in his Hank Chinaski in Factotum.

Greg Kinnear came close and I'd love to have Michael Douglas circa twenty years ago being me but it wouldn't really be very accurate because I'm not as indignant and confrontational as he is.

If the film has a sad or poignant ending, for the credits I'd have this song: The World Spins by Julee Cruise.


If it had a more happy ending I'd have Fiona Apple's Across the Universe. I remember it being on the end of Pleasantville and coming out of the cinema into the sunshine almost bursting with contentment and happiness.
