I don't think you should send a gift either; as someone said, he's just doing his job. What would be better, though, is 1) send him a card thanking him and telling him you'll send more customers, and 2) send a note to his boss, telling him what a great job he did; maybe it will be reflected one day in a pay increase, and at least look good on his record.
