Ha!! I did the same thing, only I bought a CD of various Scottish bagpipe music for about $4.95. Set it for repeat and went to work.
If you're having a party, set a reasonable time to cut the volume and let the neighbors know about it. Don't throw noisy parties every single weekend. Be considerate of the others that you live around and it goes a long way.
