If you're going over to the van Gogh museum, the Stedelijk museum is a on the other end of the street - mostly modern art (

If you're up for dancing, the Melkweg en Paradiso are pretty cool. The first mushroom shop (i think) in Holland is in the kerkstraat, where there's also funny ogre-and-troll fantasy style coffeeshop.
