Never been to Austin, but have a friend who moved there. He likes music, and he saw there was a big dance scene in the clubs and bars, and that it was pretty easy for a single guy to get a dance and chat up a woman casually. Anyway, he started dancing. Must have worked for him, because he got engaged a year after he went down there.
This is all second-hand, of course, but check out the clubs and see how the dance scene works. If it works like I've been told, start dancin', or learn.
