The bottom line is that it is very easy to get a recall going in california. It's just part of the way california works in general, people have a very "leave it up to the voters" mentality.

While I think the process of getting the recall on the ballot was shifty, and rich people from either party shouldn't be able to ramrod stuff through, I also think that the process of the recall is perfectly democratic, and it will be fun to watch.

Unfortunately, California has serious budget problems right now, and I don't see this recall really helping anything.

But, people will end up with the government that they deserve. If people want to vote in a politically inexperienced actor, for example, as the CA governor then they are free to do so.

Personally, I'll be voting against the recall, but I'm not yet sure who I will be voting for as a replacement. (You can vote against the recall and still pick a replacement in case the recall goes through.)
