I dont pretend to be terribly savvy at working with cars... but i had this idea recently

Take a lightweight car, take out the engine, and mount a small, lightweight v6 or v8 from an outboard boat engine. Small v6s can pump out upwards of 250hps, even 300. i know it would be hell mounting it and attaching the drivetrain etc but could it be done?
