It does different things for each game it is compatible with. For WindWaker, it acted as a sort of map. When sailing, it would buzz if you went over something underwater. I think it was called the Tingle Sense. Also, if you have Metriod Prime for GC and Metriod Fusion for GBA, you can upload the Fusion suit on Prime. I know it works with a few other games, but am at a loss right now. It really does a lot of neat things.
Another great aspect of the GC, the GBA Player. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is so awesome on a full screen T.V.
