If you're going to go with the shirt, you're probably going to want to next day air it, unless you want to wait 5-10 business days to apologize.
The long distance thing can work out ok. We did something very similar; broke up at first, then agreed to still being a couple, but with no limitations on what we could/couldn't do. Even with these guidelines, we both stayed faithful, and when I saw her once again for the first time (thanksgiving, as I go to school 11 hours away), it was wonderful, and really reminded me of just how happy I was with her.
A lot of times its one of those "don't know what you've got 'til its gone" sort of deals.
