A Passport to Flavor

LINK

Kettle Chips is running an interesting thing where they will send you (for $20, INCLUDING shipping) 5 - 5oz. bags of chips that they are "flavor testing". You get to try chips that aren't on the market yet, and submit your thoughts about them. Yes, many will gripe about paying a company to help them test stuff, and if you're in that crowd, please... leave it alone. For those that might be interested, the link is at the top. The flavors include:

Aztec Chocolate, Island Jerk, Royal Indian Curry, Dragon 5 Spice and Twisted Chili Lime

Yummyful!

This is a great idea on their part - but I'm not that hopeful. Everytime a company comes up with a chip that I love, the stores stop selling it. Maybe someone's trying to tell me to not eat any more chips!
Heh.

That's a great idea! Too bad I don't do chips, but some of the flavors sound really good.

JumpinJesus 11-02-2006 01:54 PM

All of them sound like tasy ideas except the Aztec Chocolate. I'm not sure how I feel about that one. I'm also not too sure I want to spend 20 dollars to find out it tastes like ass.

All of those flavours sound good... the chocolate one *might* be good as the Aztec suggests that it will have a little chili kick.

While Lime is good... one should avoid fruit flavoured chips. I remember when I was kid, they released Orange and Grape flavoured chips. Foulness. I don't think they were on the shelves for more than a summer.

Wow, I wish I lived in the states, I'd definitely pay the twenty bucks to test out chips. Americans always have the best junk food.

Funny, most companies pay people to test their stuff. These people want us to pay them.

... For $20 they better come with a happy ending that's all I'm saying...

sadistikdreams 11-13-2006 02:55 PM

I met an island jerk once. Handsome fella, kinda rude though.

Seriously though, I used to do product testing, and I've never heard of PAYING to test a product.

Well, for $20 you are getting 5 bags of chips, which normally go for $3.99 each (or so) and are being shipped to you. In the end, you're really just paying for chips, which I don't mind. The flavors are all pretty decent. The Dragon 5 Spice is by far my favorite. The chili lime isn't lime fruity flavored. It's like the chili lime Fritos. It's pretty good. Not sweet, fruity at all. I'm voting for the 5 spice... you can all thank me next year!

Alas I do not live in the USA and can not partake in this taste sensation.

How does the Aztec Chocolate taste, I'd love to try that one.

fastom 11-28-2006 12:39 AM

The chocolate chips that i like are just little droplets of chocolate.
Around here they have had Curry and Wasabi (?) chips for a year. Not sure what either taste like.

Dale & Thomas does something similiar with their popcorn, except you only pay for shipping and they send you 2 flavors.

This is not something always available, but we have done it I think 3 times this year, and once they said due to shipping issues it was not up to their standards so they re-shipped us another 2 flavors.

Lay's flaming BBQ chips are unbeatable. I have no need to eat any other type of chip.

I wouldn't mind paying $20 for 5 bags of chips but aren't 5 oz. bags just little single serving size?
If they are full size ok, if small no way!

All the flavors sound interesting, especially the Royal Indian Curry, I absolutely love curry.

No, they're about the size of a typical bag of Kettle brand chips. Chips don't weigh very much. :-p My wife and I each got about two servings out of each bag.
