Nurse Uses Bandaids to Silence Newborn Baby
Thu June 12, 2003 09:34 AM ET
BERLIN (Reuters) - A German nurse driven to distraction by the wails of a newborn baby, used sticking adhesive bandages to pacify it, a hospital in the western city of Kassel said on Thursday. The shocked parents discovered the four-day-old boy in the post-natal ward with a pacifier taped to his mouth. The nurse, who has since been moved from the children's ward, has admitted responsibility and will be disciplined, the hospital said. "She just made a mistake," a hospital spokeswoman told Reuters. The child was unharmed in the incident. ----------------------------------------- Well let's see. Newborn babies can't yet breathe through their noses, mouth was taped shut...attempted murder isn't *just a mistake,* last time I noticed. |
maybe she's related to that clown in nevada...
|
A mistake???
Idiot! We seem to have humans and semi-humans. Too bad we don't have the semi-humans tagged. |
Well, if the crying got to her, she didn't belong there.
She's just human, ya know. Some kids are horrendous! How will it effect the parents later at home? Huh? |

The hell? Babies have freedom of speech, just like everybody else has.
The amount of people going slightly psychopath has indeed risen to an all time high. I think it's something to do with the amount of stress in todays society. That, and of course a total lack of compassion and social responsability and plain old feeling in the people themselves. |
At least she's not working in the childrens ward anymore and she won't have to worry about this in the future.

O.K....maybe she's a good nurse and the Wailing kid did get to her. I can see that. Then she had no business working in a maternity ward. Surely there were other areas in the hospital that she could have worked.

jesus. what the hell is wrong with this bitch???
okay. in case any other people inspired to work with babies, listen. THEY ARE FUCKING LOUD! this woman needs to be fired, if not removed from the gene pool. if that baby died, i'd be so praying for death penalty. these idiots get away with too much shit. the asshole of the year is too good an award for that dipshited bitch. |
That really pissed me off when I read that...She shouldn't be working anywhere near children or anyone!
|
If the baby had spit up, drowned and died, she would have been criminally negligent. The fact that she (and the baby and the parents) are lucky that the kid didn't die shouldn't change the fact that this was a criminal act. She should be taken away and charged with the crime. Simply disciplining her isn't enough.

yeah, why the band-aids? plastic wrap works so much better, and doesn't hurt when you pull it off... :)
(*actually, I'm pretty upset at this. who hired this chick?*) |
Do you have the link for this doubleD? id like to follow it up.
also, man thats stupid, i guess the crying not only got to her but rendered her completly insane, |
As someone who will probably have a daughter in the next few weeks, if a nurse at the hospital we will be at did this to my kid, I'd kick the living crap out of her. I'd also probably sue the hospital, although I usually am against lawsuits like this.
Why wasn't the bitch fired? So they move her into a different ward, big fucking deal. What is she gonna do to a person that just got shot, and is moaning in pain, tape their mouths closed? Sometime I really hate people |

Just one point of clarification. Newborns only breathe through their noses, not their mouths.
|
what a cruel hag
|
What the hell is the woman doing working with babies if she can't handle their crying. I'm sorry but that's what they do...it's called their only form of communication.
If I were the parent of this baby I would have throttled the stupid b****. This just got my hackles up big time! Grrr! |
as a father who just heard the first heartbeat of his child... I would sue the second it happened, those bastards deserve to pay!

Leave it to me to get it backwards. Serves me right for posting 15 minutes after waking up. :o I'm sure I knew this when my kids were babies...at least I think I'm sure. Oh yeah, I'm sure, I now recall the miniature baster-like things to suck snot out of their cute little noses when they got stuffy. This changes things then. Technically, the nurse was only negligent, that is of course if she reacalled what I didn't, that newborn infants breathe only from their noses. Doing what she did kinda makes me wonder... Thanks for mentioning this! |

To the about-to-be-new daddies.EmptyOne, viveleroi0,
..Congratulations!! YourNeverThere: It's from the morning edition of Reuters.com, the Morning Digest...Oddly Enough News. Sorry, I still need to learn how to post a proper hyperlink. I accept any and all offers to teach me how :) This might be it: http://reuters.us.ed10.net/h/23YK/VQ7A/CM/CZZM. The more I think about this tho,' I wonder, how did it happen- the circumstances? How many babies were in the nursery, how many nurses? Did they need to have more people tending to these tiny new babes? Or was this nurse a pediatric version of Nurse Ratchid? *THEY ARE FUCKING LOUD!* Z, this was a very accurate, but highly amusing comment. IMnever-humbleO, a bit of levity never hurts when one is speaking of such serious circumstances. Thank you. :) I don't think this nurse will be nursing much longer at this hospital- too much negative publicity. |
I say we stick a bandaid to her mouth for 10 hours!!! Good ol retribution :)
Some people (or lack there of... heh) |
I think the nurse should have been punished more severely then to just be taken out of the childrens ward. What she did was inane and cruel. No excuse she could ever come up with would patch things up in my book.
|
people like that should not be around anyone who cant defend themselves.
