LOS ANGELES - Singer-actress Courtney Love was arrested for allegedly being under the influence of a narcotic after police responded to a burglary call, police said.

Love, 39, was found early Thursday outside a home where Love had allegedly broken the windows in an attempt to enter, police spokesman Don Cox said.

She was arrested and booked for investigation of being under the influence of a controlled substance, Cox said. She posted $2,500 bail and was released.

Hours later, Beverly Hills police and paramedics responded to an emergency call at a home where a woman was found to be under influence of a controlled substance and was taken to a hospital for treatment, according to a story posted Thursday on the Los Angeles Times Web site.

A prerecorded message left by Beverly Hills police recounted the incident but did not identify the woman by name.

Law enforcement sources told the newspaper that the woman was Love and that she had overdosed. It was not immediately known what her condition was.

Messages left for Love's publicist and her lawyer were not returned late Thursday.

Love is the widow of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, who committed suicide in 1994, and lead singer of the rock group Hole. She received a Golden Globe nomination for her role in the 1996 movie "The People vs. Larry Flynt," in which she played the wife of the porn entrepreneur.

Love was arrested earlier this year in London for allegedly verbally abusing cabin staff on a Virgin Atlantic flight from Los Angeles. Police later released her after cautioning her for causing harassment, alarm and distress to another person.

Its only a matter of time before she ends up like Kurt. To bad it wasn't her in the first place.

Anyone here know anything about Nirvana? If she ended up dieing wouldn't there be more songs released since she has the rights to the unrealeased ones and isn't realeasing them. Or was "You know your right" the only one?

I would have thought a degenerate of her caliber would have been long since imprisoned for doing something equally stupid, which I'm sure is almost a daily occurence.

1) After being carefully managed, they let her go wild and do what she wants, generating material for the gossip press.

2) After a while they dry her out, put her on a leash, make her look marginally glamorous and cast her in a movie, generating material for the gossip and inspirational press.

3) Go back to 1, rinse, repeat.

I read somewhere that she has tons of stuff, Eric Erlanderson from Hole took them in the crazy aftermath of his suicide so no one would steal them, and they ended up in Courtney's possession. Lots of solo and with all three guys in Nirvana. One of her recent boyfriends was trying to get her to get a bunch of the songs mixed and everything for release. That is what I remember, to the best of my ability. Courtney Love is pretty evil, I mean, she sold her husband's private diaries. How much lower can you get? Anything for a buck.

Exactly except not only was it impossible for him to have been able to reach the trigger (even with his feet cause he had his shoes on) but he had so much cocaine in his system by all reasonable medical standards he would have already been long dead from an overdose. Then you have the "suicide letter" which up until the last part (which isn't in the same handwriting or ink) sounds more like a letter to his fans that he's not going to make music anymore for a while and then when they began dusting for finger prints the prints on the shot gun were smudged like someone tried to wipe them off....DEAD PEOPLE DON'T WIPE THEIR FINGERPRINTS!! Kurt was murdered plain n simple they overlooked it just like they overlook a lot of other things in law enforcement because they're lazy fucks who would rather just close the case then ride it on for months and months.

I feel sorry for her daughter, Frances. Dead dad (suicide or murder, doesn't matter, just as dead), fucked up mom. Let's hope whoever is actually taking care of her is making a real effort. Few things sadder than a kid who's fucked up because her parents are selfish assholes.
