The White Death is falling
http://vh10018.v1.moc.gbahn.net/apps...xW=600&title=1
Here I sit bunkered down in my palatial estate just north of Cincinnati ready for the first sucker punch of the season :D I'll attempt to post photos of this tragedy as it unfolds because as you know.... SNOW = WHITE DEATH. |
I wish it would snow here.
fucking california |
we get snow down here, but most of it just melts within a day or 4. well...except for that blizzard we had sometime back in the ninties. Maryland and Va get most of the snow...that pisses me off.
|
kjroh, you've just made my day. I just moved down to S.C. from IL this fall, and I have been relishing the realization that I am quite likely not to see one bit of snow this entire winter. I love snow at the mountains, but keep it off my damn lawn. Damn, I'm going for a walk.
|
I mowed my lawn on Monday.
<---misses snow... |
I am the Snow Queen. Every time I go to Minnesota in the wintertime, it snows for me. I was just there for thanksgiving, and we got 2" on thanksgiving day. I am now in Utah for Christmas, and the day I got here we landed to frost-covered trees, followed by 2" of snow. Ah, I could get drunk on the power....;)
|
Woah, the picture changed! It used to be a man shoveling his snow, now it's a lady in red (sing it with me fellas) and her umbrella!
|
A couple of inches already here in Louisville, should be 5-10" by this time tomorrow.
It's coming your way, kjroh! |
I fucking hate snow/winter. It's just not natural for a human to be living in such conditions..
Winter is pretty much 5 months of imprisonment. Gets dark by the time you leave for work and you can't even sit outside like you can in the summer. You're stuck indoors. It's just the worst.. Another reason why I hate it is because the very second it starts to snow a little bit, people forget how to drive. The speed limit is 40, people are doing 30 and there's not a single person in front of them. I wish death upon those folks. |
Here in Toronto there aint even 5 CM of snow. I'm wishing for a white Christmas but I don't know if it's going to happen :p

Man, put on some warm clothes, and waterproof clothes, and throw a snowball at your neighbors! Relish it. I probably do more outside things in the winter than in the summer, and it's nice to come inside and have some hot cocoa and let the feeling seep into your hands and feet again! Oh, I love it! It's when the temp gets above 90 that unless there's a pool or ocean to hang out in I'd rather keep myself nice and cool inside. |

It's snowing in Toronto today! I can't say how much will stick but I should be a realtively white Christmas as long as the temps stay cold. |
I hate snow. It only happens here in the PacNW maybe once a winter every couple of years. I wish it would just stay in the mountains where it belongs. I'm not a skier or a snowboarder and have no great love for cold, wet stuff. Yuck. I have no love for cold, period. I should just move somewhere where it's always warm, but that's not likely.
Interestingly enough, I enjoy DRIVING in the snow ;) but as I no longer have a 4x4 I have no desire to test out my current car, even with its studded tires. |
Snow?
I remember that. However, in this wierd topsy-turvy Down Under country called Australia, Christmas is at the height of summer and temperatures reach 40-42 degrees centigrade this month. That's just not right. Mr Mephisto |
It's STILL snowing...and it's been snowing all day.
I don't mind though...it sucks to drive through it, but fun to play in :D |
Its snowing here in the Dallas area which normaly I wouldnt think anything of except that yesterday I had the A/C on MAX in my truck!
now THAT is strange  |
Let it snow, man!!!!
|
Let it snow!
Let it snow! Let it snow! Somewhere else! Somewhere else! Somewhere else! :D http://vh10018.v1.moc.gbahn.net/apps...xH=380Border=0 http://vh10018.v1.moc.gbahn.net/apps...xH=380Border=0 http://vh10018.v1.moc.gbahn.net/apps...xH=380Border=0 http://vh10018.v1.moc.gbahn.net/apps...xH=380Border=0 http://vh10018.v1.moc.gbahn.net/apps...xH=380Border=0 Of course we know how to drive in the snow here in the 'Nati....:D http://vh10018.v1.moc.gbahn.net/apps...xH=380Border=0 http://vh10018.v1.moc.gbahn.net/apps...xH=380Border=0 http://vh10018.v1.moc.gbahn.net/apps...xH=380Border=0 OUCH!!! http://vh10018.v1.moc.gbahn.net/apps...xH=380Border=0 http://vh10018.v1.moc.gbahn.net/apps...xH=380Border=0 http://vh10018.v1.moc.gbahn.net/apps...xH=380Border=0 |
Is that Michael Jackson up there?
No snow here in San Jose, except on the mountains. |
i love snow:)
|
sno really sux
|
Snow=life!!!!
|
White death = Cocaine
|
I love winter sports over all other kinds, so go snow!
Only minus about winter is the badly reduced light time.. too much darkness really drags me down sometimes :( |
If only it would snow.....just rain for us, and plenty of it. All of the images of the holidays of tromping through snow, throwing snowballs, watching the snow fall......just a fantasy for us. We've had plenty of 75 degree Christmases here. My winter in Iowa will have to last me for a long time........
|
4 foot snowbanks here in Midland, ON, woulsnt have it any other way
/been snowboarding for 7 years |

Hahaha, if I hate snow/winter, why in the world would I bundle up and go play in it?! Clothes or not, it's still cold as fuck outside and you're very limited to what you can do. I like walking around in the warm weather, having my windows/doors open on a summer night, sitting on my deck drinking with friend, etc. We got fucked with 6 inches of snow last night, and I'm seriously about to just up and sell my house and move back to where I should be: CA. I never EVER forgave my parents for moving here when I was 11. Imagine being in CA all of your life only to move to some arctic tundra.. not being able to go outside anymore, being miserable... ugh. Hate it. |
It isn't the snow it's the brown crappy slush that bugs me...
It just snowed all night and now it is freezing rain... The roads are a mess and the ice is getting thicker... This is when it sucks. |
I hate winter and I especially hate snow. We got about 6 inches last night here in my college town. But my hometown got 14-18 inches and i was supposed to go home for Christmas tonight. They're under a level 3 snow warning which means nobody is to be driving unless absolutely necessary. So hopefully, by tomorrow, the roads are cleared enough so that i can get home for Christmas. Plus my dad works for the Department of Transportation and plows all this white shit off the major highways. He worked 17 hours yesterday, went back in at 7 this morning and will probably work til midnight again. Its supposed to let up by Christmas but the wind is going to pick up, which means he'll probably be out working again on Christmas day. White Christmas' suck ass.

My back yard -- lawn chairs under the dreaded white death!
http://us.f1.yahoofs.com/groups/g_13...QB5yBB8yvWvtf7 The view out a front window with snow up to the bottom of the window sill. http://us.f1.yahoofs.com/groups/g_13...QB5yBBLQ9M.xbx After using a snow plow on a John Deere for over an hour this is what's clear :( http://us.f1.yahoofs.com/groups/g_13...QB5yBB7x7IbofR The neighbors have a lighted deer ... I want to put up a lighted deer hunter aiming at him :D http://us.f1.yahoofs.com/groups/g_13...QB5yBB2Bpplkqg The view out the garage door for perspective...way too damn much snow for my liking. And now it's gone down to -3f. http://us.f1.yahoofs.com/groups/g_13...QB5yBBnoJX5hSQ |
That's nasty... I have friends going to Kentucky for Christmas. Or at least that was their plan....
|
I got snow. I got 8 degree weather.
|
Ri-GOTT-damn-diculous! :D They just said on the news that 9" is the official snow fall total for this storm. I measured 22 inches out in my driveway earlier tonight.

I got 2 inches of rain today. If it was 40 degrees colder, that would have been a solid 2 feet of snow.
|
We got ice, no snow (maybe an inch or less) in Nashville. Luckily my new car handled the ice like a dream. I have to wash it now, I don't want the salt/brine mixture to fuck up the paint. Damnit, its cold too. Might just take it to one of those drive-thru type car washes.
|
I hate to keep whining about the weather but it's effff f f f f f -ing cold!!!!

I'm not a fan of the cold stuff (-10F or colder), but I love snow.
|
I love the picture of Fountain Square.
No snow here in Maysville. Well, theres a dusting on top of the 1/2" of ice we got. We are a little east of the worst of the ice, but no snow like the 'Nati. I'm glad I got out of Louisville earlier in the week, theres a foot of snow there and a lot of people can't get out. Its worse than Cincy. Damn storm. |
Had some snow around here. So far only 2 really horrible days to drive. This past week has been in the negatives which hasn't too bad besides my roomates car breaking down.....
|
It only snows in the Rio Grande valley about once every 100 years
---Yea, it is xmas eve and it is sleeting and SNOWING--my grand daughter just made two snow balls---flowers are covered with sheets and they are damp and frozen solid---expect 50 tomorrow---80 on Tuesday....now that is my kind of winter...VG |
Mom measured fifteen inches....and they still haven't plowed our street :|
|

We got out suckerpunch early-mid november. Got a foot and a 1/2 one night. Haven't really had anything big since then.
Thought I'd share a picture of one of last years big storms with everybody: http://torch.cs.dal.ca/~dscott/snow.jpg |
There isn't a whole lot of snow here right now, maybe an inch or two. We really haven't had any bad storms yet (knock on wood). Hopefully we don't get any either; on the day after Christmas last year we got the worst storm in 22 years. That sucked!
Oh how I miss NC, with snowfall maybe once a year. Hubby better agree to move after he finishes school :D |
I honestly have to say that I love the snow. I don't enjoy the intense cold we've gotten this week. A constant 10-20 below is a bit cold. It's starting to warm up again. Only 1 degree F right now. Not below zero. That's more bearable.
As for snow. I can find lots of things to do in it. love when it's just slightly slippery and I can do the run and skid thing. I did that through the Walmart parking lot to get to my car on Mon this past week. Maybe people thought I was nuts. I figured - hey I'm slipping and sliding anyway so I'll just make it a controlled slide and have fun with it. I enjoy cross country skiing, skating (my favorite), making snow men, snowball fights, making quinsies (a different version of the igloo), and the candle light ski-walks that our local state park holds about 4 or 5 times a year. It's awesome. Get a park sticker and you can go, walk through the dark woods with only candles to light your way. Others walking along the trail in the dark that sometimes keep to themselves or join you to chat along the way. At the end of the trail is a large log shelter with huge fireplaces and roaring fires, hot chocolate and hot dogs to eat before heading back on the trail to your cars. Not something you can enjoy quite so much without the snow and chill. Did you know that an igloo or quinsy with a 1 foot thick wall can maintain a temperature of about 40 inside, sometimes even warmer?? I love to make snow cream (a version of icecream that my Alaskan relatives shared with us). Made with eggs, cream, vanilla, and sugar and lots of clean white snow. Mmmmm - goes great with pound cake. DEFINATELY NOT diet food. I love making molasses candy. If you've read "Little House in the Woods" you might remember it. I can think of so many good things about winter. Besides can you think of a better excuse for snuggling up inside with your sweetheart and shutting off the outside world for just a little while. That all said I do get a bit of cabin fever during January. I think it makes me appreciate the rain in spring and the warm days in summer that much more. BTW Dawson and Co just couldn't resist calling while we were in the low negative temps this week. They just had to tell us about their 70 temps and going to the beach. Every season and climate has it good points I think. |
I went home to Colorado for Christmas and got snow. Cold and ugly for a few days I was home. Went back to Florida. Guess what, cold and ugly and yes just a few flakes for Christmas. Actually warmer in Colorado. Oh well. Merry Christmas
