Viking Superviolence in Valhalla Rising

No-one seems to do violence and brutality with such relish as the Vikings. This is from Nicolas Winding Refn, the Viking (Danish) director of last year's impressive and very stylish Bronson, it doesn't seem to have a release date or a proper trailer yet but I'm very excited.

Delightful. I hope it has a story.

The first rule of Viking Club is that you don't talk about Viking Club.

Was "superviolence" a reference to A Clockwork Orange? Or just coincidence?

Should be good if it has a decent story, otherwise meh.

I'd imagine super and ultra are interchangeable here.

The story is:

Quote:

One-Eye (Mads Mikkelsen), a mute warrior of supernatural strength, has been held prisoner by the chieftain Barde. Aided by a boy, Are, he kills his captor and together they escape, beginning a journey into the heart of darkness. On their flight from bounty hunters, One-Eye and Are board a Viking vessel, but the ship is soon engulfed by an endless fog that first disintegrates as they sight an unknown land. As the new land reveals its secrets and the Vikings meet a ghastly fate, One-Eye discovers his true self.

I think it sounds good, if a little vague, and the footage looks great. But I thought both trailer and premise for Pathfinder sounded great too and the movie was too awful for me to watch properly.

Well, the Tchaikovsky really gives it an A Clockwork Orange vibe. I liked it.

My avatar is so fitting for threads mentioning A Clockwork Orange. :)
