League of Male Celebrity Sick F**ks
I have this category of male actors that play those “off” parts that seem to have that certain quality about them that places them in the sick f**ck group. These men have that creepy quality that separates them from your standard villains, mentally unstable individuals, and similar groups. They’re not huge and tough bad asses, they just have that creepy way about them that makes you wonder what diabolical thoughts they have going through their heads. The kind of guys you would feel totally uncomfortable walking behind you at night. All seem to have made a name for themselves because of this certain way about them. Taking nothing away from their abilities as actors; because all are. They are the League of Male Celebrity Sick F**ks.
Ones that come to mind are Rutger Hauer John Malkovich Malcolm Mcdowell Gary Oldman Christopher Walken Who’s missing from this picture? |
Hell, Christopher Walken didnt even have a head in Sleepy Hollow and he was one intense guy.
|
Gary Oldman is such a good actor...(drools in jealousy)
|
Walken is the scarriest guy ever. If he told me he was going to kill me, and then started dancing(and dancing well, as he is damn good at it) I think i would just have a heart attack and die. Hes so riviting its insane. Definatly a favorite actor of mine. :)
|
Steve Buscemi.
He was very good in Con Air, and his insane part in Armeggedon. Top notch. He can pull off the insane wacko part very well. |
Samuel L. Jackson. Such a great angry-ass sort-of-wacko in so many films. And Woody Harrelson just for Natural Born Killers, that was one of the perfect wacko parts. Kevin Spacey has been given the wacko treatment numerous times as well. Robin Williams lately too.

Jeffrey Jones (can't quite put my finger on it, but...) and Crispin Glover.:D
|
WILLEM DAFOE, I've dubbed him the monkey-boy. Honestly though, who else could play Jesus, the Green Goblin, Nosferatu and a pathetic villain in Speed 2?
I have a lot of respect for this actor, though it saddens me that he appeared in Speed 2. http://us.ent4.yimg.com/movies.yahoo...e/toronto2.jpg |
I was gonna say Willem DaFoe too. And Crispin Glover is a good call.
|
How 'bout Kevin Bacon?
Donald Sutherland? KEIFER Sutherland.... Bruce Dern(for all you old heads) ....Michael Douglas... yeah, you know what I'm talking about. |
So many of the above but dont forget Dennis Hopper. You know the bad guy in the good Speed :) and about a gazillion other movies. Plus cant forget when his appearance on 24.
|
Christian Slater - Very Bad Things, and Other Films
|
a lot of the name that are being suggested are actors who have done only one or two films that fit the definition. whereas the League of Extraordinary Sick-Fucks is for those who have made a career of playing these types. so, of all the nominees so far, those with a fighting chance of making the LESF are:
Buscemi Dafoe Hopper some of the others Dern, Glover, Spacey, are marginal candidates. the rest of the names are not even close. for that remaining slot, I think you have to go with Willem Dafoe. Hopper just doesnt seem dangerous enough to me, and Buscemi hasnt got quite enough nutjbobs on his resume yet. |

A friend of mine just reminded me about a character out of one of my favorite movies The Shawshank Redemption. The actor was Bill Bollenger. I dont remember seeing this guy in any of the other movies he's been in because usually the part is small and the characters not very memorable. Shawshank was an exception though; he played one of the creepiest freaks I've seen, so creepy that I felt earned him a place in the league. He played the part of Elmo Blatch. If you dont know who that is; it's worth watching.
BLATCH- "...I got me this job one time bussin' tables at a country club. So I could case all the big rich pricks that come in. I pick out this guy, go in one night and do his place. He wakes up and gives me shit. So I killed him. Him and the tasty bitch he was with. (starts laughing) That's the best part! She's fuckin' this prick, see, this golf pro, but she's married to some other guy! Some hotshot banker. He's the one they pinned it on! They got him down-Maine somewhere doin' time for the crime! Ain't that choice?" |
personally my choice for the lifetime achievement award goes to vincent price
|
Kevin Spacey was the first one I thought of when I saw the post. No one's mentioned Ving Rhames yet...then again, I haven't seen most of his films, so maybe he's just psycho in the movies I've seen...
|
Walken is my all time favorite, but after seeing Butterfly Effect I think Eric Stoltz is well on his way to joining this list
|
Tim Roth.
|
great post
have to agree most with the original list... adding William DaFoe as well... good to know i'm not the only one who thinks this way... ;) |
Can't believe I forgot this one.
Anthony Hopkins C'mon Hannibal Lecter... He makes a very good "sick f***" |
Quote:
It's true one well performed nutjob does not a sick f**k make, but Spacey's John Doe in Se7en is as chilling as they get. Even Hopkin's Lecter is only in the ballpark of that grade of twisted evil (although exquisitely well played). |
Quote:
|
I have to go with Rutger Hauer as top of the list. Just the way he can play such a "matter of fact" evil is chilling, like there was nothing else in the world that that character could have been. Both Blade Runner and the Hitcher bring that to mind. Unfortunately he got old, fat, and lame far too early. Walken would be a close second. The most recent actor who has this quality, even though he is getting more mainstream now, is Vincent D'Nofrio. I watch him on Law & Order, and I just can't seperate him from Private Pile or the killer from The Cell. Not to mention The Salton Sea, Men in Black, etc..
|
Quote:
However i'd have to say that the MOST recent at the psycho-ish roles would have to be Robin Williams, in his recent parts such as Death to Smoochy, Insomnia, and One Hour Photo. Quite disturbing performances in those (but hilarious at the same time in Death to Smoochy) |
Gary Oldman is the best, any body who can go from playng Sid Vicious, to Beethoven, to Dracula, and every other character he has played. ' Romeo is Bleeding' is one of his best flicks
|
Tom Noonan(manhunter,last action hero)
Brion James (Bladerunner, The Fifth Element) Everett McGill Gary Busey and his son Jake Sean Whalen http://img1.photobucket.com/albums/0...ttevil/33m.jpg |
My picks..
Michael Madsen, Mr. Blonde, Reservoir Dogs, etc..Sadistic Madman
http://www.angelfire.com/mi/michaelm...es/Blonde4.gif Chistopher Walken, Deer Hunter & every other movie he's ever been in...Quintessential Madman http://www.walkenby.net/cap154.jpg http://www.walkenby.net/cap192.jpg Dennis Hopper, Blue Velvet, etc..Violent Madman http://movies.monstrous.com/pictures...r_Movie_11.jpg |
ummm, i think the modern day Marlon Brando fits that category quite nicely.
another would be Rod Steiger (even though he's dead now). |
I think Philip Seymour Hoffman definitely has the potential to play a sick fuck
|
I'm gonna have to go with Anthony Hopkins on this one.
I can't believe he's only got one vote so far. |
Kevin Spacey as John Doe in Se7en.
|

it's true though, he could be sick if given the opportunity. |

Finally, Jim Siedow (the cook) from the original Texas Chainsaw Masssacre.... damn creepy, and he's a cannibal  Jim Siedow |
Another vote for Anthony Hopkins, he is just creepy sometimes.
|
Billy Bob Thornton
|
Clint Howard gets my vote!
|
What about Tom Waits? He played Renfield in Bram Stoker's Dracula.
Straight Jacket + Eating Flies + Grimy Ass Jailcell=creeptacular. http://www.keeslau.com/TomWaitsSuppl...ld-Dracula.jpg |
Malcolm McDowwel
|
Anthony Hopkins and Kevin Spacey top my list.
|
Jack Elam used to play creepy characters.
Anthony Perkins was a total creepout, even before Psycho. Bud Cort is creepy. Peter Lorre was a good creepy part actor. /is creeped-out now |
I'll tell you what's creepy - how you are all reading my mind! I went through the thread and every time I came up with somebody original it was right there. Some nice obscure references as well.
I think you have to give credit to DeNiro (Taxi Driver) and Hopper (Blue Velvet) for being sort of the fathers of invention with this genre. I don't think I saw Tim Roth for his character in Rob Roy - um, unsettling to say the least. Also props to Malkovich for his Claus Von Bulow and of course Nicholson for The Shining. Oh yeah, and that dude in the movie "Misery" who kept breaking James Caan's legs. That guy was scary. ;) |
christopher walken is the man
*king of the new york* |

only potential candidate I can think of off the top of my head that I don't think has been mentioned is Harvey Keitel
|
Some good ones in here. I'm a huge Walken fan myself. Fist movie I saw of his was The Dead Zone when I was a kid, and I was hooked. Man is creepy. But it surprises me no one has said Keaten yet. He can be really fucking creepy when he wants to.
|
Peter Stormare, who played the creepy 'eye doctor' in Minority Report, so freakin' scary.
... Which reminds me, also in Minority Report, Max Von Sydow, who played the bad guy. He's always been cast in creepy parts. |
Mickey Rourke
Lon Chaney Robert Englund Boris Karloff Bela Lugosi Christopher Lee |
james spader and jeremy irons usually play some type of weirdo
|
Michael Ironside?
-Mikey |
Jeff Goldblum always plays some wierd character as well (The Fly, The Big Chill, Jurassic Park, etc...)...and he is a damn fine at it, imho. He is usually both beguiling and disturbing at the same time.

Clancy Brown
Career Sgt. Zim in Starship Troopers, Lex Luthor's voice in the Superman animated series, Capt. Byron Hadley in The Shawshank Redemption, and of course The Kurgan in the original (re:good) Highlander. |
Peter Stormare, who played the creepy 'eye doctor' in Minority Report, so freakin' scary.QUOTE]
That is a monster pick. This guy has turned playing sick psycopathic f*cks into a science. He has played deranged characters in so many movies, that to see him try and play a normal character, like in Windtalkers, even that character seems a little "off", because you are just waiting for him to flip out and start eating the guy next to him, or something just as sadisitic. His role in 8MM alone should seal the deal for him. They only other guy I can think of to fit this category is Patrick Kilpatrick. Some of you are saying "who!?!?!", but trust me, I don't think I have ever seen this guy play anything but wackos in his long career. I originally saw him in the VanDamme crapfest Death Warrant, where he played the Sandman. After that performance, he started popping up in bigger films, usually as the #2 bad guy, the one who did all the main antagonist's dirty work, because he is just that sick. These roles were in movies like Under Siege 2, Last Man Standing, Eraser, etc... Even when he plays characters on the right side of the law, like in Minority Report, he is always the guy who would rather mutilate everybody and let god sort them out, than try to distinguish who is right or wrong. Besides, just look at the dude, he even looks like he belongs in a padded cell. |

I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned Robert Davi yet. That guy plays psycho to a T.
|
DeNiro was mentioned for Taxi Driver but how about the remake of Cape Fear. He is just so believable as the southern cracker who won't quit. Or as Satan in Angel Heart.
|
Christopher Lee
Jeremy Irons |

Christopher Walken's a classic creep, too. |
Walken, classic.
Agreeing with Dafoe... /shudders/ Dennis Hooper - did you guys watch Blue Velvet? "Pretty. Pretty. Pretty." Michael Ironside - name says it all. Daniel von Bargen [picture] - Clive Barker did a great job putting him in a picture Jürgen Prochnow - coolest voice ever. ever. |
How can Gary Busey be left off this list - If you don't agree, just watch the original Lethal Weapon again...
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000997/ |
Gary Busey doesn't exactly scare me... he's just [insert any verb in past tense here] out of his brain. But I can see how he deserves to be on this list.
|
Willem Defoe.
bunnies jump fast nuff said. |
Willem Defoe played Jesus.
|
Yeah, but then along came Bobby Peru. :oogle:
|
Daniel Day Lewis? Ummm... hello? Daniel Day Lewis! The guy's a frakking shoemaker in real life. How creepy is that?
I'm thinking his recent There Will Be Blood will be yet another testament to this. |

I'll have to toss a vote in for Ralph Fiennes, ala "Red Dragon."
Hopkins and Walken top my list by a longshot, though. |
Christian Bale in American Psycho and The Machinist... he's working on his potential despite Batman
Edward Norton deserves an honorable mention. Primal Fear, American History X... The little kid from Joshua scared the crap out of me and no matter what movies he ever makes, he'll still be the weirdo kid. And, my votes go to Nicholson, Spacey, Hopkins and Walken, too. |
Can you guess who the candidate is in this scene? Bad movie, but memorable scene.

I don’t know why but I always thought that Ed Harris played an incredibly convincing bad guy. He just has that look; you know the kind that appears so outwardly calm and primp which just leads you to believe he must be a sick fucker.
Notable bad guy roles: the rock http://www.cinema24horas.com/filmes/rocha/rocha02.jpg enemy at the gates http://img2.timeinc.net/ew/img/daily/587/ed_l.jpg a history of violence http://g.takas.lt/gpi/filmai/Ed_Harris.jpg and of course the coach from radio http://www.sptimes.com/2003/10/27/ph...171949_102.jpg |
Well it looks like Christopher Walken is winning the majority of these, and he is the one who I would nominate.
And yea Ed Harris was creepy in Radio. *shudder* |
Pesci in Goodfellas and Casino and of course, Ray Liotta always can play a good psycho fuck, cold calculating mean ass mother.
|
Here are 2 others that I don't think anyone mentioned:
Jeremy Irons Steve Buscemi Excellent creepy actors. |
No one thinks Johnny Depp should make the list?
Sweeny Todd was a pretty creepy role. His Willy Wonka scared me too for some reason. Secret Window, etc. etc. And to top it all off, he's crazy in real life too. |
I don't think anyone has mention him yet but what about Adam Goldberg?
He seems to play characters who are one can short of a 6-pack, and play them well. |
Quote:
that's the first person i thought of. he doesn't even do anything in con air, he just straight up looks like a serial killer |
Walken is an awesome guy. In person, he's every bit as intense as he is on screen. He also loves when people impersonate him.
|
Quote:
I can't forget his sick role in Blue Velvet!!!! Yikes that was creepy! |
Did any do Tobin Bell? The guy from the Saw movies and much more that looks like John Cusak following reconstructive surgery after an acid spill...
http://i.imdb.com/Photos/Ss/0489270/6_300dpi.jpg He's one wacked out man. |
