Angel - Series Finale *spoilers inevitible*
 

Well, I just finished watching the series finale! Afterwards there is a little snippet with a collage of scenes of Angel, together with a "Thank you, from The WB" which made me laugh.

Spoiler: I wasn't incredible impressed with this episode. It was nice to see everyone come together one final time (but where was Buffy?!) and Lorne definitely showed a change of character, but the ending was awful. Throughout the last few episodes Aleria has become my favorite character, and it's good that she had a large role in the finale, particularly with Wesley's death. I just wish they had done a better job of tying up the loose ends in the last few minutes -- showing a thousand demons and the survivors of the Black Thorn-assassination squad right before going to black is intentionally lame and a cop-out. Shame on you Joss! :rolleyes:

I smell the potential for a jump to another netword. This was a cliffhanger if ever there was one.

Also his love for Angel isn't a sign of weakness as a human being... he never mentioned being human to begin with.

I was hoping that at the last minute all the slayers with Buffy and the Scoobies would jump out and help Angel and crew, but alas my Mutant Enemy Buffyverse fanboy fantasy has been defeated. :(

I've not watched it. It is sitting on Tivo waiting.

but IMHO I would think that it's good for a movie, with Buffy, since Buffy isn't interested in doing a movie on her own, I think that she's just ripe for a dual Angel/Buffy movie.

Personally I really liked the ending... why wrap it up neatly and put a bow on it... The fight continues...

It left me wanting more. It also leaves the door wide open for potential Angel TV Movies or Feature films.

Wesley's death was handled well. While I was sad to see him die, I did feel it was getting to the point where his character either needed to die or become evil... he was becoming just a little too morose and gloomy.

Lorne's final act was powerful. All I kept thinking was, poor Lorne, it just was so against who he is to do what he ultimately had to do. It made it clear why he said he'd not be returning so don't look for him... Watch for Lorne in the movies!

Linday's death was perfect and unexpected... and who better to deliver the blow...

Angel signing away his rights to the Shanshu... nice touch. Committment and sacrifice all added to the mix. Not that I'd want to be human if I was him... no more ass kicking. What would he do, become a 9-5er?

If they do make a movie, they are going to have to find a new boffin. With Wes, Fred and Cordy gone there is noone left to do magic, research, etc... That said, what they've got left - Angel, Spike, Gunn and Ilyria - can kick some major ass...

The only real complain I have is that the whole let's kill the circle story arc felt a little rushed. I am sure the season was planned to go this way (perhaps minus Wesley's death) all along but I just felt story's arc could have used one or two more episodes to let it breathe a little. As it stands it was a two episode arc.

I had that feeling that it was too rushed also but they did about the best they could do with that.

The ending was great for Angel. All four of them are the "real" fighters of the group and that's how they knew they'd be going down someday. It leaves the TV movies a possibility, but it seemed like there would be no way they'd win that fight. You don't need to see them all die, you just need to know that they'll fight fearlessly till the end.

I liked how they left it open-ended, who knows maybe it might come back in some form.

She looked pretty damn good in that shoot. Too bad she didn't show the bush :(

I liked the ending; it was true to the series. Could have been more upbeat, but on the other hand, the message was "Keep fighting." And Angel and crew, if they do survive, will do exactly that.

Apparently the season might have ended a little less grimly if the show had been picked up. And there were plans for new developments next season, like Allyria being Fred more and more of the time. I won't spoil, but her emotional development in the last episode was very affecting without being in the least bit maudlin.

Some great lines, too. My personal favorite: "Can you think of the _one_ word in that sentence you shouldn't have said?"

I've been following the press releases on the new network seasons (ocupational hazard) and the WB hasn't confirmed these telemovies yet. That said they aren't regular running series so they might wait to announce them...

I doubt anything will happen but it sure would be nice.

wow! wasn't that cool how it ended? 2 episodes to show it all... interesting. i like the fact that they didnt end it completely. it woulda sucked if you saw them all die. this way you know that they will kickass for a few more min before diying or being rescued/helped by the slayers or some backup demons of some sorts like lornes, family... etc...

too bad they had to kill it so soon. that was one of the last show i was still watching on tv. oh well.

I kept checking the time on my TIVO while watching the show and trying to picture how they were going to end it. The killing of Lindsay was startling and coldblooded. While thinking about it afterwards, I realized that he was just too evil to let live and therefore had to die. But it was still coldblooded. And to have Lorne do it just really through me for a loop. Because it was the last person you would think would do an assassination. But that's why he was such a good choice. I didn't want Wesley to die but C'est la vie. His character WAS at the breaking point after losing his love so I think it was necessary. Although, it would've been nice for him to have possibly lost his life in the major fight at the end. Ah well...who knows what will happen. True...the ending of that show was a HUGE cliffhanger but they may just leave it alone. IT turns out that "Tru Calling" IS scheduled for next year so there won't be any "Faith" shows coming up. SOOO...it appears that the "Angel Telemovie" stuff is crap as well unfortunately.

Too bad......this and Buffy was two of my favorite shows and now they're both gone. Now we're stuck with crap like Tru Calling and Charmed. :P

Wow...I got put through the wringer on that one. Laughter (many many times--but a few that stand out: the effulgent poem; "try not to die, you are not unpleasant to my eyes"; "I want you! ...that sounds wrong, let me rephrase that." "Yeah, please do.")

...shock when Lorne shot Lindsey...holy crap!

And yes, I'll admit I had tears rolling down my face during the whole Wes and "Fred" scene. "Do you want me to lie to you now?" "Yes. Thank you, yes." :(

And what was the WB "thank you" thing at the end? I had to download the ep, and it wasn't included, but everyone seems to be rather insulted by it.

It was a clip that aired after the end with a bunch of scenes from different episodes. Some announcer thanks all the fans for spending the last 5 years watching Angel and how the WB thanks us too. It's corporate bullshit to make them look like they arn't the bad guys.

Being in Canada we didn't get the WB thank you stuff... But Space (our Sci-Fi channel) had an Angel marathon on Monday that ran from 9am and ended at 10pm with the series finale...

The episodes were chosen by viewers voting on their favourite episodes... I finally got to see the episode where Doyle dies... cool episode.

It kinda sucks that we are left with just about nothing but reality on TV. There are so many creative people [like Joss and company] that can make intelligent, entertaining TV that will soon have no place on the small screen because it is much cheaper to throw a bunch of people on an island with no food than produce a traditional series...so all I have to say is Thank you WB for taking away one of the last shows on TV worth watching!

Yeah, that little bit from the WB was included on the Bit Torrent file I downloaded. FUCKING BASTARDS!!!
They cancel one of the only shows on TV worth watching, and have the brass testes to thank us for watching? Talk about rubbing salt into the wound!

I thought it was Angel who had the "big, brass testes.." ;)
