Organic Food in- ” San Diego”?
I have just moved to San Diego and although I LOVE the food here I prefer to eat all/as much as possible organic food. Does anyone know of good places to buy organic produce, including meats?
In many countries you can get boxes of organic produce delivered to your house each week - does anything like that exist in San Diego? I also cook alot of international dishes, especially Thai and Vietnamese, Indian etc - are there any places to buy fresh international herbs, fruits and vegetables? |
Look for CSA programs--community supported agriculture--if you want a drop box. Usually you have to go pick it up at a local drop location. They're popping up all over the country. Local Harvest / Farmers Markets / Family Farms / CSA / Organic Food is a good resource for finding CSAs in your community. It looks like there are at least a few options to choose from in San Diego. Using LocalHarvest, you can also search for farmer's markets in your area and grocery stores that sell organic produce.
My SO and I are signing up for a CSA box this spring! I'm really excited. |
Try Trader Joes, not the largest variety but definitely some very interesting and tasty things. I have also heard that Henry's market is good too, though a little expensive.
But like Snowy said check for local farmers markets. I'm sure in San Diego there has to be some good ones. |

There is a Whole Foods Market in Hillcrest & one in La Jolla. You'll find a better selection of quality organics there than TJ's, Sprouts or Sunflower.
