BadNick 09-05-2009 06:20 PM

uncle phil 09-06-2009 01:54 AM

BadNick 09-06-2009 02:19 PM

do you dream of playing golf?

I've had pleasant dreams of driving fast on a couple tracks I like...East Course at Pocono and Thunderbolt at NJMP.

uncle phil 09-06-2009 02:51 PM

sometimes...

i used to think i wanted to race cars...

BadNick 09-06-2009 06:53 PM

you had a Corvette, right? Did you ever race it? Drag or road?

I still enjoy bombing around the track but no evidence that I have international level talent ;) ...though I have a couple trophies from time trials and I usually pass most cars ...but that's due to inordinate power, huge brakes, and fine handling more than talent. And when you get this old and you're still alive, you have to have had some experience! ...I'm sure you can relate to that.

BadNick 09-08-2009 12:19 PM

I called a tree guy today to take 3 down & out on my property.

uncle phil 09-08-2009 03:41 PM

hope they fell the right way...

BadNick 09-08-2009 07:17 PM

as long as I don't have to do it, I don't care where they fall.

A few weeks ago I decided to cut one down myself, with my brother's help. We had a couple ladders and my little chainsaw and this pine tree was about 40 ft. high and right next to my house. Since there was no place to just drop it, we had to work our way up the tree removing all the branches; then when we got within 10 feet of the top we tied off the top so we could urge it in the right direction and cut it off; then worked down an took out the rest piece by piece...then of course the clean up and disposal! This took us two whole days, climbing up and down the ladder a couple hundred times. Then my knees were quite sore for a few more days.

This is why I'll never cut down another tree on my property again...if I can't just drop it in one shot, I'm calling the tree guy.

Trees are great.
They provide oxygen for every living creature.
Shade.
Housing for birds, bugs, humans and other creatures.
Sugar, rubber, medicines, all kinds of wood projects.
They're beautiful to look at, and fun to climb.
They provide warmth when you're cold.
The right trees even flavor your bbq meat.

Trees, is there anything they can't do?

you should have seen some of the trees i dropped in my back yard over in stewartstown, back when i was a southern pennsylvania home-owner...

BadNick 09-09-2009 04:26 AM

I hate cutting down any tree that doesn't really have to be removed...but these three were planted about 40+ years ago by some stupid human who thought it was good to plant a cute little tree about a foot from the house wall. So now that they're 40ft+ high they are just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

uncle phil 09-09-2009 12:26 PM

ours were dead/dying...cut and split for firewood...big, tall red oaks and poplars...

BadNick 09-09-2009 12:46 PM

Woodies are wonderful.

I'd post the song "Isn'I it wonderful to have a penis?" But I don't know how, so I guess I'll just go play with it.
