I might be able;
I might be able to please;
You should ask yourself.

ring 03-12-2008 07:48 AM

I have been pleasing myself for far too long...
if you had been listening..

Ourcrazymodern? 03-12-2008 07:54 AM

so don't talk to me.

to talking, what we're doing.
Does it? Knock it off.

only 'cuz I want it.

hand in hand we will demand:
most satisfaction.

Ourcrazymodern? 03-12-2008 08:36 AM

I can request with respect.

BadNick 03-12-2008 09:08 AM

Now you say you're lonely
You cried the long night through
Well, you can cry me a river
Cry me a river
I cried a river over you

While there is some difference of opinion depending on intepretation of where a river actually starts, I would say the Nile River is the longest river in the world at 6,650 km (4,135 miles)

ring 03-12-2008 09:15 AM

Good stuff..Ella Fitzgerald..

The Longest Thread and its inhabitants, are most awesome also.

BadNick 03-12-2008 09:30 AM

god I love Ella, I was so lucky to hear her sing live a couple times.

I have not heard him live, but I crank up my hi-fi audio to hear Paul Robeson sing his river songs, Deep River and The Four Rivers and Sleepy River and Song of the Volga Boatmen and canoe song and congo lullaby and Swanee River and River stay 'way from my door and my two favorite Shenandoah and Ol' Man River.

The world's longest moustache? In Ahmedabad, India lives a man who has not cut his moustache for over 22 years. Badamsinh Juwansinh Gurjar had his moustache measured at 12 1/2 feet in 2004 giving him the honor of having the world's longest moustache ...unless you guys know a longer one.

jewels 03-12-2008 10:01 AM

^ I bet that guy is Santa in disguise.

I'm sure Tophat would know this, but who else?

What was the world's longest animal? The world's longest animal ever found was a Lineus Longissimus which washed upon the shore of Scotland in the late 1800's (keep your knees together tight if you're wearing kilts!). Better known as the Ribbon Worm, it measure 180 feet in length, beating out the longest Dinosaur and the Blue Whale for the title. That worm would last me a whole fishing season.

ring 03-12-2008 10:19 AM

Hot dog, that is.

BadNick 03-12-2008 10:26 AM

thanks, ring. I was so into longestness that I missed noticing that.

^ I hearby christen (or we can have a brit mila or bris, if we prefer) that dog "Halx" since I think he would acknowledge that connection if he was here.

Where is the world's longest boardwalk?

Not only is it the world's longest boardwalk, it's also America's first boardwalk and considered the world's most famous boardwalk. The world's longest boardwalk opened on June 26 1870 in Atlantic City, New Jersey and currently runs 4 1/2 miles in length. I have walked it many times.

ring 03-12-2008 10:35 AM

I must wax nostalgic for a moment...
My dad took us to long island off the coast of Jersey every summer..

Surf City... Barnegat Bay...

I remember the old rollercoaster at Atlantic City...sheesh..
musta been 1966 and a bit later after that...

My parents lost my sister and me, in the salt-water taffy store with all the mirrors.

jewels 03-12-2008 10:39 AM

I dunno but the best have to be in JERSEY!

Why are men so obsessed with biggest and longest? http://www.scuba2000.com/forum/image...cratchhead.gif

Hey, did you perchance go to Steel Pier and dance around Ed Hurst's dance show? Not to mention the diving horse! This was pre-hippie era for me back before 1965.

As if size didn't matter! What is the longest pier in the world?

In Essex, England the Southend-on-Sea pier opened in 1889, extended in 1898, 1908 and finally in 1927 bring the pier to a record length of 2,158 meters or 1.34 miles.

Who was the world's longest woman? Trijntje Cornelisdochter Keever was born in Holland in 1616 and became the world's tallest recorded woman.

At age 9 she broke through the two meter mark and just before her death at age 17 she topped out at 2.54 meters or 8 feet 4 inches.

BadNick 03-14-2008 10:22 AM

In spite of the holiday, I had no steak for lunch today, but a few of the guys in work went out to Tony's, a very nice local pub in Ivyland PA. I had their excellent very thin crust pizza with sausage and onions and a few beers; we decided that it was an engineering department meeting so I charged it to our budget. Next time you are all invited. ....unless you meant you are hungry for knowledge ...can't really help with that.

Esoteric 03-14-2008 10:23 AM

I just had Subway, it was pretty good.

Could've been better though.

BadNick 03-14-2008 10:27 AM

Well if you had pizza with us, you might want to know this if you're hungry for knowledge.

What is the world's longest pizza? On October 11 1987 Lorenzo Amato and Louis Piancone built a pizza that measured 140 feet across making it a 140 foot long pizza. The pizza was then cut into 94,248 slices and at an average one foot/slice that pizza could stretch 94,248 feet or 17.85 miles. The pizza worlds longest pizza covered 10,000 square feet, weighed 44,457 pounds and was eaten by 30,000 people.

Some of the ingredients:
18,174 pounds of flour.
1,103 pounds of water.
6,445 pounds of sauce.
9,375 pounds of cheese.
2,387 pounds of pepperoni.

But since you had a Subway, I'll add these important facts:

What is the world's longest subway? Easy, the New York subway system is, by far, the world's longest subway. The New York subway system now has 714 miles of track with the longest subway line, the ‘A’ Eighth Avenue Express, taking up over 32 miles.

For some brief history: The New York subway opened as the Interborough Rapid Transit (IRT) subway in 1904.

For comparison: The London Underground comes in a distant second with just over 250 miles of track.

London subway = weak!

randomation!! and btw: HP KEYBOARDS suck ass. they're like laptop keyboards!! so small!!

this is more like it! microsoft curve keyboard! not the crazy curve but just a bit to be comfy and large enough for my hands! ;)

genuinegirly 03-14-2008 03:05 PM

I have small hands. Laptop keyboards are truly ideal, if only they made them with that friendly ergonomic style.
http://www.monkeycircuit.com/mmMONKE...ERGO-50x50.jpg

BadNick 03-14-2008 07:52 PM

I liked the tactile feel of the key clicks on my old NEC keyboard so much I lived with it for many years, but recently I sprung for a MS wireless curvey keyboard and I do find it more comfortable ...though I still dislike MS in spite of this positive. My two boys seem like such experts at keyboarding on their tiny Voyager cellphone keyboards it amazes me.
