Any game where I have to go in and rename files to stop the intro from playing EVERY DAMN TIME I load the game without being able to cancle it, has issues.

I'm not really happy, gameplay seems pretty much the same as every FPS game I've played so far. It keeps telling me I need a patch when I have the latest patch as well.

I hope to be getting a new gaming 'puter soon, and I've been eyeing this game. I was always a big fan of the FPS. Is that basically what this game is? I just wanna kill stuff... not strategize. :D Also, is it a game that is good enuf to stand alone i.e., without going multiplayer on the net? I'm on dialup at home ( :cheapbastard: ) and it won't get played online.

I think BF2142 is geared mostly towards online play. I know BF2 was at least. BF2 was just lame unless you were playing online.

You're looking at the wrong game then. :( The BF games (all of them) have always been pretty much online multiplayer only. Some people like to argue that the single player and co-op is good, but it's not. It's sucked in every BF game, including this one. The BF games are also famous for not being a run and gun shoot'em up series...they're very intricate and detailed and strategic. Strategy has to be used in order to beat your enemy in most cases. :)

Hehe, yeah I hated those intro ads for BF1942 and BF2. Yes EA and Dice, we KNOW you made the game, we shouldn't have to stare at your logos for 20 seconds before starting the game. It just makes us hate you even more.

Of course, I just deleted the intros so it went straight to the log in screen.

Feeding the addiction back in Battlefield now that I have my new PC up and running. I love the BF games a bit too much. They're the only PC FPS that I've ever been into and this one is no different. The city maps are fun as hell and the Titan maps are fun as hell. I have to admit the game is simply amazing with every single graphical setting at the max limit at the highest resolution.

Damnit! I was trying to forget about ever hearing about this game. It looks so amazing, but sadly my comp can't handle it.

I recently uninstalled mine, I just got bored of it. It was fun at first, but it didn't seem to have the same appeal as Battlefield 2, I've gone back to playing that now.

Yeah I definitely wouldn't say it's better than BF2, but I hated every map in BF2 except 2 of them and had hundreds of hours on my profile so I just got BF2ed out. I was seriously getting bored of 2142 until I figured out that the regular assault guns are way better than any of the unlocks. Now it feels more like the BF2 assault rifles (which were perfect IMO).

I really like titan mode though...I mean, REALLY. :)

I still play BF2 from time to time. It seems much more realistic to me, especially some of the more interesting mods. I haven't tried Project Reality yet, but the reviews are sweet.

What's up with the rank system? I'm currently @ 1123/750 and I'm still Corporal Gold...

The rank system acts funny sometimes. Try logging in and out, joining a server, etc. to get it to trigger your promotion. Also the rank server might be down and that would cause it as well.

once you enter a new ranked game, your promotion will come as soon as you get your first point on that server. I believe it has to be a completely different server than the one you recieved the points on that put you over for that rank though. Its happened to me a couple of times already.
