It's been mentioned a few times already but Knights of the old republic is a great game. Just completed it and it took over my life for a while.

FF6 and FF Tactics. You can't do better than that.

easy one for me - Bard's Tale
battling for runner-up: Pole Position and Mario Brother, both on Atari 7800. Wolfenstein 3-D would get honourable mention as well. Text games and Myst place near the top as well.
Never have played more than 5 minutes of quake or any of its sequels, but did my share of Doom and the 'thousand WAD file' expansion package though. Rise of Triad always entertained me more than Doom or any of its other clones; have to love 'dog mode' and the all-mighty hand that smotes anyone down.

My first thought before I saw everybody's picks was definitely Chrono Trigger, but after thinking about it I narrowed it down to 3 great games:

1 Chrono Trigger
2 Starcraft (oh, the hours wasted..)
3 Zelda: Ocarina of Time

FarCry for PC has to be up there, have not stoped playing this

The first Spy Hunter. I can still play that for hours.

Super Mario Bros. I could play that game everyday and still enjoy it.

At the risk of being called a fanboy, my favorite game ever is Zelda: Wind Waker. I was skeptical at first, but I've always been a huge LoZ fan, so I decided to give it a try.

My previous favorite game ever had been Ocarina of Time, and I had more fun playing Wind Waker (better engine, among other things), so WW has become my favorite.

My favorite non-Zelda game is probably either Chrono Trigger, or Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. The Metroids are up there too.

Gotta go with Halo.

X-COM UFO Defense. It's turn-based, a decade old, and doesn't run well on WinXP, but god DAMN.

Super Baseball 2020 - Sega, was just so mouch fun to play. I actually sold it but then missed it and went and found it and bought it. I havent played it in forever but I think Im going to have to hook up my old sega and play.
Morrowind - X-Box, best rpg ever.

Goldeneye was the most memorable. The 4 player death matches were just awsome and the single player game was so damn hard on the 007 level. I never could beat it.

Also have to go with Madden. Madden pretty much changed gaming for me with being able to play online. Ive met many cool people through that game.

KOTOR's also strarting to climb up the ladder. But Smash Bro. Goldeneye, and Counterstrike are still above it.

Best. Games. Ever. My opinion of those hasn't changed since the day I played them.

Chrono Trigger is deffinately up there. As far as RPG's go Wild Arms 1 2 and 3 especially 3 rocked

Oh! Besides Ultima Underworld...I must say that I also loved the Baldur's Gate series (Not particularly 1) as well as NeverWinter Nights.
