What do you get complimented on?

People say Im funny and interesting. Someone told me today that life would be a lot duller without me, which made me go all fuzzy.

What do you get complimented on?

LoganSnake 07-14-2007 04:08 PM

My sense of humor, my accent, my dress style and my ass.

spectre 07-14-2007 05:20 PM

Physically, my hands, abs, and smile. Personality wise, my sense of humor and that I'm genuine, especially when concerned about someone.

noodle 07-14-2007 05:24 PM

My smile and ability to catch everyone off guard with my humor. Or so I hear. People for some reason also find me to be an empathetic listener. Though less so recently if I don't like the person or it's not for work.

Someone at work also noticed and commented that I looked like I was getting "firmer". Woo hoo!!!

ngdawg 07-14-2007 05:54 PM

My smile...which confuses me because I have teeth that can't decide in which direction they want to go...and my humor. I'm always being told what a 'riot' I am, should try stand-up, etc. Yeah...whatevah. The bod gets'em too, as do my eyes. Like Fredweena, I'm told a lot how well I 'understand' and empathize with whoever's confiding in me at the moment( I seem to attract 'secrets').

Sultana 07-14-2007 06:50 PM

Physically, my hair and my rear end (!).

Otherwise, my sense of humor, my vocabulary, and my "strength".

That's all I can make up...I mean think up just now. :p

My mad dancing skillz. :D

amonkie 07-15-2007 02:39 AM

My hair, eyes, and toes (!!!). Being smart and helpful.

Yeah, go figure, I get that a lot too... not that I really want to know people's dark and dirty secrets (especially not strangers, which actually happens), but for some reason people just TELL me. Never been able to figure out why, or how to turn off that function in my personality.

Otherwise, I get complimented on my photography, writing, travel planning, and my ability to speak more than one language (which is also funny, because I never feel confident about that). People also seem to think I'm very cheerful and positive, another funny thing, since I often feel moody as hell and overly critical. But, whatever. I'll agree that I have a nice smile. :)

tecoyah 07-15-2007 05:31 AM

Generally....I don't.

Strangely, I am quite OK with that...heh

Baraka_Guru 07-15-2007 05:41 AM

My god, fredweena. You have the cutest avatar!

:D Thanks. It made me smile, too. I'm Noodle everywhere but the TFP. Strangely enough, even with my friends.

Push-Pull 07-15-2007 07:09 AM

My sense of perfectionism and completeness. I can turn these on/off to suit the task at hand, but everyone seems to notice when I have them on.

Also the fact that I will work my ass off to accomplish the above has gotten me a lot of respect at my place of employment. We'll see just how big a compliment I get in the form of a raise after my 90 day review.....

Martian 07-15-2007 07:45 AM

Physically, it's almost always my eyes. I've been told that they "make girls melt."

I also occasionally get compliments on my sense of style, which surprises me not in the least. After all, I do frequently say that whatever you do, you should do it with style.

Daniel_ 07-15-2007 07:53 AM

My humility. ;)

Looks-wise, my chest. I have tits and ass like you wouldn't believe. The great thing is--I've lost 40 pounds but my chest size hasn't changed, so my boobs look bigger than ever. I didn't think it was possible.

Personality-wise, my sense of humor and my strength. Though E. frequently doesn't get my jokes, and contends I'm not funny because of it...I contend he has a slow wit.

Skills-wise, I regularly get compliments on my intelligence, my writing, my cooking, and my super-sized knowledge base (thanks to my prodigious memory).

It took me quite a while to come up with these...sometimes it's good to remember what other people like about you.

shesus 07-15-2007 10:49 AM

The last thing I got complimented on was my tattoo.

I don't know, I guess my eyes and legs. I've been told that I'm a risk taker. My knack of picking out bad movies and making them enjoyable has been commented on. Also, my cooking has gotten many compliments when I was doing some catering projects or just entertaining friends.

I don't get many random compliments. They usually throw me off guard and I don't know how to react so that's fine with me. :)

World's King 07-15-2007 11:02 AM

My eyes.

And just the other day I had someone tell me that I was really good at my job.

Strange Famous 07-15-2007 11:09 AM

Like another guy said - nothing really.

I'm ordinary looking other than being fat.

In terms of personality - I don't think I have a lot of admirable traits.

Willravel 07-15-2007 12:38 PM

Balls.

surferlove007 07-15-2007 06:24 PM

Probably my eyes...

JustJess 07-15-2007 06:29 PM

I get a lot of comments on the color of my hair, but since that's genetic, I can take no credit! Otherwise? I dunno. My patience, my memory, and my ability to take criticism are all things my boss comments on. Which is the funniest shit I have ever heard... because anyone in any other aspect of my life would definitely disagree!

Hm. Oh, I will do a LOT to help the people around me, if I like them or I don't, it doesn't matter. So others comment on that. That's nice to hear. :)

Willravel 07-15-2007 06:35 PM

My barber compliments my hair, but I think she just wants repeat business. She does get tipped a lot.

fresnelly 07-15-2007 06:35 PM

A calm demeanor and eye colouring.

I call Bullshit....you get compliments.

What's interesting is, I think most of us are uncomfortable saying what we get complimented on, so we're keeping our lists kind of short or not responding. We feel like we're bragging, maybe...plus, I know when I get complimented, the brain starts thinking about why it's wrong while the mouth utters a "thank you".

Congrats!!!! I know when I lost the 45 lbs, at first the boobs looked slightly smaller, but the bra size stated otherwise. Now they're a bit bigger, but I haven't gained the weight back. And, if you lost it working out, all the better to make them look more spectacular ;) your chest muscles build up while the abs get smaller and firmer...it's all good. You did good!

nefarious 07-15-2007 07:10 PM

once in a while light will shine on my face in a certain manner and people will suddenly stop and tell me i have beautiful eyes. to me, they're hazel .. and actually remind me of a bland and watery bowel movement. i still dont know why people say that :)

Daoust 07-15-2007 07:27 PM

Being a good listener, having a sense of humour, being good to my children, my chest...

These are all from the same one person, but it still counts, right?

guthmund 07-16-2007 10:36 AM

I have absolutely no idea how to take a compliment. The entire response is usually me awkwardly looking away and mumbling thanks mid-shrug. If I'm feeling especially confident, I'll throw a compliment back they're direction. It never quite feels sincere even if it is and the whole thing just somes off a bit weird. Not that I get too many compliments, right?

Physically, they're mostly about my hair, which is a bit strange. Every once in a while, I'll get one concerning my eyes, which is also odd as they're just an ordinary brown.

I'm the go-to guy so, I get complimented at work a lot. That and because I "get shit done" if I may paraphrase a past employer. It seems that's an admirable trait in the workplace these days.

hambone 07-16-2007 11:19 AM

not physically.

But otherwise, the best compliment I got (multiple times actually) was that I am an all around solid guy. Made me feel good.

more fire 07-16-2007 06:06 PM

my recent weight loss.
40lbs and counting. 'ave it

Plan9 07-17-2007 09:42 AM

I get complimented on being funny.

(looks around, folds hands, whistles)

So... uh... wonder if that applies here.
