Feeling rather down today... thanks in advance for the catharsis...

Thick like smoke
heavy and suffocating
it steals over me
holding me unaware
until it surrounds
choking my breath out
watching
i scream silently for life

It’s grip is strong
unforgiving
bringing me to my knees
feeding its hunger
my cries echo with pain
its inherent darkness
that which suspends life

What is this demon
speading like fire
one that so easily destroys my will
breaks my spirit
leaving me limp
lifeless
like a rain beaten rose

Worse than winter’s frost
it works from the inside out
eating away at the tender soul
until it i am an empty shell
a rotting flower
in the once beautiful garden of life
