You must not have been to an emergency room lately. There are a lot of hospitals trying to stave off insolvency.

Italian in New York. Chinese in parts of California. The point is, is that people will learn English. I don't think there's a need to make it official.

Besides, a little bilingual education never hurt. If anything, knowing more than one language makes you smarter.
Unfortunately, the situation gets much more complex when you consider what language schools must teach in, street signs, ballots, and the like.

The logistics are definitely daunting.

I support keeping English as the official language. In Europe they formally adopt each and every member country's language as equally valid and official. Makes things VERY complicated and waste millions of dollars a year on translation costs.

Where's the fun agreeing with each other?

Unfortunately, the US doesn't have an official language. That's why we're headed down the wrong path in regard to assimilating (or the lack thereof) immigrants.

Okay, people who are in favor of English as the national language, don't worry. English isn't going anywhere. America wins, all right? Everyone else speaks English, and we don't speak any other languages. We don't need to make it the national language, and any politicians who introduced such a bill would be cutting themselves off from the huge Latino vote, so it won't happen.

I don't like that.

Actually, I was referring to the illegal ones and the associated costs.

Where I live, a lot of the illegals (or what I assume to be illegals) in fact do commit many crimes. Unfortunately, I do not have any hard data confirming my assumption (originally based on some police report or something) so I could be wrong and if so will admit such. I do have some personal experience. (being in prison and beng victim of crimes - got mugged).

But currently, I am under the impression that many illegals commit many of the crime where I live.

So, my original contention that the Mexican government should pay for the costs of their illegals seems perfectly fair especially since they are actively encouraging and suppyling a manual on how to enter our country illegally.
