A Banned members forum!

The subject of another thread gave me this idea!

All members that have been banned from TFP will get access to one forum, Tilted Banned. That way, they can talk to each other about how and why they got banned. At least they'd be participating on TFP and will be somewhat motivated to do so!

Eventually, if they post enough reasonable stuff on Tilted Banned, their ban can be lifted...

SecretMethod70 11-25-2003 12:26 AM

Heh, an original idea, but impractical. Most people are banned for one of 2 reasons - they're underage or they've screwed up many times after having been given a significant number of chances to stop being a problem. And then there are the small handful of people who are simply flat-out jerks also.

These are not people we want here and they're not worth the effort a Tilteed Banned forum would require.

Journeyman 11-30-2003 08:41 PM

Beyond with SecretMethod said, I imagine more than a few of them would be so disgruntled that they would break the rules that are in place to keep TFP out of trouble. You know, those rules.

I have a forum like this setup for my guild site, which I call "The Drool Cup." If someone is ever to be suspended or banned, they will be restricted to that forum. I luckily haven't had to use it yet! :)

eyeseepeedude 12-03-2003 05:10 AM

and hope you don't. Once you ban someone, they get really upset and are pretty much willing to do whatever it takes to annoy the crap out of you... ;)

feelgood 12-05-2003 01:34 PM

Get a shortbus forum or something. I know couple of other forums has that kind of thing where members are breaking rules and they get sent to the "shortbus"

ickma 12-12-2003 03:16 PM

Ahhh, no. It's like sticking a bunch of gun wielding murderers in a room together. It also defeats the purpose of the ban if they're just given new priviledges. Possibly we could restrict people that are about to get banned to only a certain few forums. It would be a sort of suspension but I don't know how well confining a large group of morons to a small space would work.

Scipio 12-12-2003 04:25 PM

Well, it's not like the mods have lives or anything... :)

anti fishstick 12-14-2003 02:33 AM

hmm maybe i'm wrong, but i always thought 'banned' meant you couldn't even access the boards anymore?

lady 12-14-2003 03:45 AM

I'm pretty sure that those who are banned are banned for good reason and aren't the kind of posters who would contribute to the forum anyway...

If a forum like that were created, it'd probably wind up being a massive troll-fest, full of people bitching and moaning about why they got banned in the first place. The mods have enough to do already without having to deal with all that...

well... not if you listen to my evil ex-roommate ;) BUT, yeah, we're ALL busy... either with school, work, life, whatever!, and we definately appreciate you guys considering that :)

Cynthetiq 12-20-2003 07:41 AM

why waste precious resources?

MSD 12-23-2003 09:51 PM

Although impractical, this strikes me as the funniest thing I've heard all day.

"Go sit in the corner!"

Unfortunately, when you put all the troublemakers in one corner ...

bernadette 01-04-2004 11:41 AM

imho, it seems ridiculous to give trouble makers anything, but the boot. adios!

no doubt these sorts of rude people will quickly find another board where they can aggravate, annoy & stir shit. i've never understood the pleasure that some people derive from being mean & nasty...

personally, i wouldn't give them time of day, let alone their own forum.

Fly 01-10-2004 12:55 PM

but..............if they (the banned)had thier own little place,we all could slide in every now and then, act like assholes, bitch and moan, just to piss them off.

eye for an eye?

*leaves with childish grin on face*

Eviltree 02-03-2004 03:48 PM

I think it would just be a waste of resources. The banned would probably post a rediculous amount of crap (pictures etc.) just to put extra strain on the server for revenge. cool idea though

juanvaldes 02-03-2004 10:14 PM

not gonna happen.

Good. Glad to see we all agree.
