Why are blog comments with links moderated?
 

I understand that we wish to prevent spam in the blogs, but this feature seems unnecessary. I dislike posting comments with links that then don't show up to everyone else until the owner of the blog approves the comment, and additionally, I don't like having to moderate comments with links in my own blog, as people are generally just trying to be helpful. Is there any way we can turn this feature off?

What does everyone else think? And thanks in advance for your responses.

I'm looking into it, but I don't see any reasons as to why it does it from a spam standpoint. It may be Askimet that is flagging it as that's an automated system that handles the spam for comments.

I'll have to investigate it a bit more. But in the interim, maybe there is a future fix... I'm scheduling time for it now ;).

Most spam contains links intended to drive traffic/google pagerank. It's less likely that a message with no link will be spam.

I knew I'd posted about this before. It's still driving me nuts, by the way. :)

That's because I tend to see your posted comments and approve them right away.
I don't catch them all but I do catch most.

Yup, and if cyn doesn't get to them I know I approve them pretty frequently and I imagine other mods do too :) I definitely understand the frustration, but you can at least take comfort that moderated comments won't stay that way for long if there's no reason :)

Yup.. i'm another that catches them as soon as I see them.
