IXP.net Legit or Not

Howdy, I have a question for you guys, have any of you heard of the company IXP (website: www.ixp.net). I have a couple of friends who work for them, and I've been told their bad news. Anyone with some first hand knowledge of them or used their services before?

Personally, I think they are legit but they are taking money from not too tech sound people.

try contacting the Better Business Bureau in your area and see if there are any complaints

maybe try talking to your friends

Seems like another small regional ISP. Their sites to flashy for my taste as i prefer quality of service over company image but they seem a small marginally stable company with a small customer base.
There are several websites devoted to rating ISP's based on service quality. Google them and find out what others are saying.

well any local isp would charge that low, the only "5x speed increase" they're advertising is for text and pictures; they have a compression scheme which allows for faster data to be sent, but audio and video will still be slow.

There's a bunch of these kinds of things. It uses a compressed proxy and cacheing to speed things up. Only surfing is sped up, donwloads are still slow.

Earthlink offeres something simmilar.

Yeah, that's what I figured out now. I don't know about the numbers their posting (I doubt a compressed 56K comes close to broadband).

arch13 - good idea

That should set off alarm bells.
