Surround Connections, mixed components
 

I recently purchased a house that was wired for sound in virtually every room which is pretty cool. They threw in the JVC receiver and the Russound driver that serves sound to rooms throughout the house.

The problem that I seem to be having is this. I have a BOSE lifestyle set of equipment including the surround/receiver, 5 cone speakers, and one sub woofer. I can't determine the proper connection scheme to allow the JVC receiver to power the sound through the bose speakers. :hmm:

I'm wondering if this is even possible without some cable and wire splicing since the BOSE seems to have it's own crazy connection type. I guess the BOSE subwoofer serves as an amp that in a normal connection config would also drive the cone speakers. I'm sort of at a loss with this one.

If anyone has a good source for mixing and matching connections like this it would be a big help. :thumbsup:

The first step is to find a large, open topped receptacle for the Bose system.

Secondly, I don't think much can be done, as Blose insists on using their own cable to connect to the sub and amp.

You could take a look at whats getting power/ground/etc with a multimeter but aside from that, brandon hit the nail on the head. The Bose stuff is pretty much junk, and they're big on going out of their way to make sure their stuff is as incompatible with everything else as possible.

I'm of a mind right now to agree with you. :mad: But now I have to decide what to get to replace it! :crazy: Too many choices and I'm not sure where to start.

Woo hoo baby!! You've made the right choice. I'm all over that like a cheap suit. First off, what do you want to do with the system? Are you after music or home theater use? (even though I'm sure the answer is "both") What is your intended budget? Gimme something to go on and I'm your man!

Wait a minute. If they left you a receiver and a server, you may not need much else. I have seen entire homes being driven by careful wiring and a single receiver.

What audio do you use with the Bose system that you want to hear through your house? If it is duplicated on the reciever, then youre almost there.

If you really need to use an audio source from your Bose system, just use a LINE OUT (if available) from your Bose system to any input on the receiver. That should do it. The receiver will have its own internal amplifier, sends its signal to the server, and you're in!

As far as your comments of "... I can't determine the proper connection scheme to allow the JVC receiver to power the sound through the bose speakers. .." you should think about doing it the other way around.
