Laptop
Im looken for a laptop that can handle Autocad 2004 / 3dmax / Photoshop 7.0 ETC.......Tell me what u guys think i need i need. At work i use a computer that aint that powerful. Its like 2.2 Celeron with 512 ram and a cheap Video card. Its nothing Special. Even know it dont render stuff in autocad very well because of the cheap video. So all i think i realy need is something with a not bad video card. Im not looking for a high end rendering machine. Im just looking for something when i go to shows i can do work on.

Tablet PC's are becoming the way to go, I think anyway. If you have a couple thousand to spend it would be worth it. Take a look at the Compaq TC 1100 or the Travelmate C303XMi. I heard Dell just came out with a nice one too, don't know the model name of that tho'

Autocad 2004 / 3dmax / Photoshop 7.0 are intense programs, you need at least a gig of RAM and then a nice video card too. you will be hard pressed to find a laptop that can do it well. stick with a desktop/tower.

i run autocad / 3dmax on my home computer good with 512 ram. Yes my rendering speeds are slow but it dont run bad. But i did notice a big change when i bought my ti4600 from my mx440 hehe

I used to run Maya on a Dell 5100. 2.4Ghz P4, 384mb RAM, and a Radeon 7000. I couldn't run really heavy geometry but for simple modeling and scenes it was ok. I was even able to do character animation with it as long as I stuck to the low-poly mesh.

http://rjtech.com/8050.htm This is what I use. Dont use autocad though the other programs run just fine. 1 gig of ram 2.0 Pentium M www.abspc.com also carries the mitac 8050 think they call it the mayhem g2. The Mitac 8050 comes with 128mb graphics card so this maybe what you are lookin for.
