Barbara Walters, trailblazing TV icon, dies at 93

Let's hear it for the lady.
    She was iconic.

I remember her name and personality registering to me even back in the late 70's in my wonder years.
People even did skits on her, even on SNL.
Her interviews were significant and well advertised
And even her last venture, The View, became lasting.

She pushed it forward for female journalists, even during the "old-boy" networks.
Always very smart, never went for glam, although sophisticated all the same.

    Respect.

She was a trailblazer. Many people don't realize how very few women were prominent in broadcasting even into the late 1970s.

I didn't know she was 93 years old.

    RIP.
