I don't have a link but I watched a British gal talking about the slave trade triangle and how in 2015 the Britt's finally finished paying off all the the businesses who lost their slaves when slavery and slave trade was made at least overtly illegal.

    Ha, found it !

Haha thanks Chris. I'll resist stalking her....

Anyone notice the Lumi (butt crack and underboob) deodorant adds ?
Adds produced by a Utah firm that funded the release and distribution Qanon quasi Indiana Jones hunt for south American adrenochrome baby eaters film. The Jamba juice pizzagate film....

Box Office Hit ‘Sound Of Freedom’ Controversy—Including QAnon Ties And False Claims Theaters Are Sabotaging Screenings—Explained

“fetishizing the torture of its child victims”
Now it's interesting they say this because I think what's happening is people have become addicted to the adrenaline of their own outrage at these abhorrent ideas. But I don't think their self aware enough to see how ludicrous the ideas(stories) are and that they are being manipulated. From what I understand the whole q thing was just a goof joke on 4chan and it blew up so they milked it till it became a full scale industry of manipulation merch and cult.
Well, I won't buy a case of Lumi and shoot it with my old wrist rocket...but dang, what an incredible time we live in that such huge amounts of money are spent and made over completely insane fake ideas and stories.
I suppose it's always been there since cable tv started and we got 24-7 televangelists. But still...it's amazing.

EU unveils ‘revolutionary’ laws to curb big tech firms’ power

    This is a good thing.
These companies are getting too big for their britches.

The US needs to catch up on controlling these heavy hitters.
Congress is slow as molasses and a good portion is influenced by them….conflict of interest.

Like security and privacy or pretty much any tech related aspect
The EU is ahead of the game
At least going in the right direction

I don’t like too much regulation
But there does have to be some checks

Biden nominates former airline executive for top FAA job

Michael Whitaker. Generally speaking I'm skeptical about bringing in someone in from the industry they are going to be overseeing. But with the FAA would bringing in an outsider (relatively speaking) be a good idea?

Note: Check out the article for how some Repubs treated Biden's previous nominee, Phillip Washington. Ted Cancun Cruz is an asshole.

    Crypto's role in terrorist financing

I think it goes WAY beyond terrorism.
Not only feeding the Dark Web, with drugs, human trade, pedos, etc...

But it also is likely being used for corruption and foreign influence.
$$$ traded between VIPs and groups for things they don't want traced, illegal, unethical or even just bad optics.

I think this is how Russia, China, NK, etc is provoking US politics and other nations they want to manipulate
This is likely how parties like the GOP are getting funding for lobbying or coax outsiders.
(and Dems may be doing it too...but I don't think as much, IMHO)
It's like an underground lobbying, propaganda and influence peddling platform.

This also may be a way businesses are getting underneath laws or taxes, etc.
There's too much potential for abuse from all sectors.

And likely one of the reasons we've seen an increase of chaos in our systems.
Too many cockroaches crawling around in the dark, exchanging bribes and then some.

Agree there. Sure would be interesting to see a flow map like a genealogy tree with every intersection you could click to open a paragraph telling who's paying who for what goal or gain.
People in the GOP are cheaper to own via payola obligation and the ensuing web of lies that need to be maintained afterwards.
To me that burden is way too heavy. Sidney and Cheeseburro broke under that weight, but they are weak in the end anyway.

Some NY Chick-fil-A locations may be forced to stay open on Sundays under new bill – NBC New York

I see two distinct sides here.

A business wanting to be closed on Sunday is their decision.

    But OTOH...
If a business wants the contract to operate in a high traffic area, to basically have guaranteed business, they have an obligation to meet. In this case be open to offer travelers food choices.

A clause/requirement for being open seven days a week should be made absolutely clear in the bidding/contract process. If it can't be met the business doesn't get the contract.

The above requirement shouldn't be introduced after the fact, & shouldn't be enforced retroactively.

Edit: We used to visit the antiques district in Angleton, TX. One of the largest antiques stores was closed Sundays, their door sign announced they were in church on Sundays. That's their call, but when do most people go out antiquing? On the weekends, Sat & Sun.

This' going to be very interesting.

Wayne Lapierre did something rare in the firearms community:
He managed to turn many firearms owners against an organization that has been the face of gun owners rights for many, many decades.

He's going to trial over what did he did with the NRA coffers. The actions he didn't take as head of the NRA are also damning.

Nutshell, open to interpretation & debate:
Lapierre built up the NRA's membership & bank accounts.
He did little in the way of legal fighting for gun owner's rights.
He structured the NRA so that he & the top executives held nearly all of the power, & made it almost impossible to remove them.
NRA money started going to outside legal and PR firms, while the NRA had a long history of keeping that work in-house.
He used NRA money for many personal expenses, and was caught & stopped when the NRA was going to buy him a home.

Falling inflation, rising growth give U.S. the world’s best recovery

    Excellent...BUT...
    - Biden won't get credit for it.
    - It's great for biz but the public is still getting pounded in cost of living (rent/mortgage, food, utilities, etc...the basics)
    - Not all the verticals and industries have gotten better, most of the lift is in smaller or non-skilled labor. Much of the skilled labor is still being laid off and not brought back on.
    - The Fed, is not helping by keeping rates high (a 22 year high), so companies aren't able to get loans to bring in more staff
    - And again, the Fed, in keeping rates high, means credit is still VERY pricey and a hunk of $$ every month in interest. (from previous loans to stave off the pandemic costs)
    - and and and...

Problem is, they're looking at the GDP overall...not what is happening to the common people. And the ongoing impact to their ability to just live month to month.

We've still got a long way to go before it "trickles down".

And a lot of debt to whittle down on.
    That fiscal influx, ain't free.

It's good...it's got to get better.
But something is better than nothing.

And yes, the US is doing better than Europe, etc...but there's not as much of a safety net as Europe.
Capitalism good...citizen support, not so good.

    Everything counts.
    As above, so below.

Let's try to pay attention to all levels.
    Then we'll really start rockin'

Janet Yellen, US Secretary of the Treasury, was on one of the network TV news programs.

I'm aware some people who are bright and very good at their job do not come across well on TV. And any bias against those people is on the persons passing judgement.

The issue is politics for many people is visual. I firmly believe there are folks who don't read, any info they manage to absorb is through vids & podcasts.

Yellen makes a bad impression. She represents the Biden administration.

I'm wondering if Disney is betting on DeSantis being gone in a few years, and is making a concession of sorts because they can play the long game. (Pure supposition on my part.)

DuhSantis' time is limited (hopefully very limited), but maga-think & maga policies could be around for a long time. One factor is future maga-right politicians might be a lot smarter when it comes to not fighting with Disney.

Mass IT outage hits airports, businesses and broadcasters around the world — NBC News

And THIS is why I have been wary of the cloud services for so long

This has affected tons of things globally
    From emergency services
Even down to my own work laptop

Business and government is impacted, even damaged

Most businesses have been in a rush to just put everything tech into the cloud
Or at least interconnect with it

The house of cards finally collapsed
    No alternatives

Like what they were fearing with the Y2K issue
But they spent tons of money preparing for that
    This is sudden

And as a future warning, this could be done intentionally by terrorists or a bad nation
    One point of failure

    People never learn
Wonder if they will this time???

    This could easily go under
Trump what has he done now?

    https://www.propublica.org/article/...ial-jedtec-james-davison-conflict-of-interest

Warning: The article is long, and dry, but it does show some of the complexities involved in multilayered business deals, and in this case it also involves a then POTUS who might be POTUS again.

    I still do not understand:
Why the SEC let a mystery holding company, which seems to have been created only for the purpose of bailing out Trump Media, put money into a company clearly headed towards failure.
And how NPD Trump stands to make billions of dollars as a stockholder in a company operating in the red.

Of course the deal in the works might show the whole thing was set-up for back door investments.

Net Neutrality Faces Another Setback: US Court Blocks Proposed Rules (Again)

And the ping pong match continues...

Y'think some courts may be influenced or bribed. like some justices on SCOTUS??
Or perhaps political agendas for one side...

There does seem to be a pattern.

    Hope they can resolve it.

It's subtle the "prioritization" sales pitches they put in their packages. "Oh we can give you this much so you don't have to wait"
Or it's just lumped in...and people don't know to not get it.

It's all a scam and hustle.
