I like to doodle little characters, usually pen on post-it note. The better ones I'll scan and re-do using Gimp.
This thread is for any drawings, paintings, sculptures, snowbank-pee-art or whatever media you choose to depict characters. If, like me, you like to think about their back-story while drawing them, please include it.

This is "Chubs". He used to be thin. Then he discovered cheesecake. The sadness in his eyes is for his current lack of cheesecake (not his weight problem).
    smile2.png
This is "Bob". He smiles 'cause he's happy despite the shrieks of terror at the sight of his teeth.

Nice work, and good use of the GIMP.

This would be a drawing from my Science Fiction notes I did at least 12 years ago. I could spend hours explaining where this fits into the whole universe in the notes, but I doubt anyone would want to hear such details here. At least in the raw form. I will just leave it at this thing is around 2 Kilometers long depending on the year built and the class.

Oddly enough he doesn't have a back story, he's just a fat guy.

I don't doodle as much as I used to. But I do have a few on hand that I'd like to share with your thread :)

Hey Fly. A few more doodles that I hope show a bit more character. I realized a couple in my first post were more doodle than character - sorry about that Canthook

This was using a photo instead of a doodle for Gimpification (kinda cheating, but meh)

Sometimes the characters come in groups. I usually start with a bunch of pairs of circles for eyes, then go from there.

have you ever used mypaint? You have the type of talent that can put that program to good use, especially with a decent drawing tablet.

I've never heard of mypaint before, but I've been wanting to try a tablet for a long time. Just don't have the spare cash.

I forgot about this thread :) Here are a few doodles from 05 - they tended to go on offcuts of paper 4 1/4" x 3" because I had stacks of those for notes and such around my work station. Not sure why they've come in f/s so huge. Must be the scanner setting I guess, though I did size them down before importing them here.

  18. Whoa, a drawing thread.

    I love that octopus, Canthook.
Kramus, you already know how I feel about your excellent stuff.

I realize I have been AWOL but perhaps you will indulge me...

I often draw on index cards and put them in the kid's lunch.

    Fallcephalopoda Autumnus
The colorful tree came printed on a little sticky note. The cephalopod came later.
He will return home before the leaves fall.

I hope to see more doodles when I return.
