Recipe Decadent Appetizers

    Ok...are you all like me sometimes?
    Enjoying all the excellent appetizers and never leaving room for the actual dinner.

    Or even better, forgetting dinner, and just straight-out eating the appetizer just for itself.

    Sometimes, when I'm feeling in a funk, I'll just do this.
    Or you'll have it, to nosh on with a good drink during happy hour.

    So describe those great appetizers that are just addicting. (just one more... )
    Doesn't have to be fancy, just damn good.

    I'll start with one of my favorites...

    Rolled thin sliced genoa salami with whipped cream cheese spread in the center.

    Good scallops, or calamari, or nachos, or potato skins, or Sashimi......mommy!

    My current favorite is prosciutto wrapped shrimp with a mango beurre blanc and chopped grilled pineapple. I damn near lick the plate when I order it.

    The restaurant is reasonably high end with an awesome happy hour. Typically my wife and I will have 3 appetizers a piece and split a desert, with 4 drinks and a tip usually runs about a hundred bucks.

    Last time we went, we each had a plate of shrimp, bowl of lobster bisque, split an order of roasted kubota pork belly with wasabi mashed potatoes, split an order of crab cakes, and split an order of profiteroles (puff pastry filled with vanilla bean ice cream, garnished with raspberries and drizzled with dark chocolate syrup.)

    I like early dinners, so happy hour with good appetizers works well for me.

    OK, shrimp by the ton...

    But I love a good triple-cream Brie (good quality, soft...needs to look like its already dripping outside of it's casing...)

    Perhaps even better, mix that with some Foie Gras or a nice Pâté (awesome)

    Don Pablo's (Tex-Mex chain, for those unaware) fajita nachos. It's a 12" platter layered with tortilla chips, refritos, fajita chicken or steak, cheese blend baked on, topped with lettuce, diced tomato, sour cream, guacamole, and sliced jalapeno. Not overly fancy to be certain, but good enough to call this appetizer a meal.
    Avocado egg rolls at Cheesecake Factory.
    Corned beef & cabbage rolls at Claddagh, with a beer I can't see through.
    House-made potato chips with ranch at Shallo's.
