    What are your favorites?

We really like watching Bath Crashers, Property Brothers, and Disaster DIY. Lest you think I only watch HGTV, I also like This Old House, along with Ask This Old House, on public broadcasting. I read This Old House magazine regularly, and we've learned a lot from both.

I started watching Bath Crashers because I wanted some ideas for our own bathroom, which we have been redoing. We've since learned from the show that we would've been better off just demoing the whole space and starting from scratch :p I like Property Brothers because I enjoy seeing some really awful homes transformed into something beautiful. Disaster DIY is a good reminder to us to keep our projects going, no matter how long it takes. This Old House is perfect for people like us, trying to fix up an older home.

For our Canadian friends, I must admit, I'm often surprised by the number of shows that come out of HGTV Canada.

DIY Network is my fav. Don't have a particular show that stands out. They're all great. Truth told, I'd probably choose DIY Network & History channel over any of the other 11billion channels every time.

The wife is not fond of this trend..she knows that every time I see something awesome, I'll be at Lowes/HomeDepot/local building supply buying more shit and destroying her spaces.

We don't get DIY on our package, but I'd love to have it. We get Bath Crashers as part of a DIY Preview they do on HGTV every week, and I have the DVR set up to record it. On Sunday mornings, we often have a Bath Crashers marathon with our coffee.

I love pretty much anything on DIY. For some reason I like holmes on homes even though they are all old episodes. I wish I was in lowes when those people are there. I would shit myself. But my luck ain't that good. I find myself watching DIY more than any other channel. Even if im there it watching the tv and its just on its on that channel.

I'm more into House and Yard crashers, than Bath Crashers, but I'll watch every once in a while.
The show where they combined all three was pretty funny and informative.
They now have another Crashers show that stars some hot lady contractor, but I forget what it's called, for some reason.

Ask This Old House is good to watch, and it's always a hoot when they attempt to figure out what that one tool/part does.
I used to watch the hell out of The New Yankee Workshop and The Woodwright's Shop on PBS, but I haven't seen them in a good while. I miss them both.

When I lived in Canada, I loved watching DIY shows. In Asia, there isn't a lot of DIY going on. Heck, most people don't even decorate all that much. Labour is cheap and whenever someone wants something done, they hire someone to do it for them.

As someone who likes to do it myself, it kind of drives me nuts. The hardest thing is finding parts and tools. There is no such thing as a Lowes or a Home Depot here. There are a number of small hardware stores and a chain of DIY shops. But they almost never have what I need.

Lately, BBC Lifestyle has started to air a few DIY shows. They have old episodes of Holmes on Homes and some home decorating shows with Justin and Colin but not much else. When I catch them, it makes me happy.

These seem to be some of our "go to" shows anymore. I'm not sure why, because I'm about as handy around the house as a rubber wrench. The "crashers" series are fun because its the whole surprise factor of whoever gets picked. I almost want to go to the local Home Depot every day just in case they are taping there.
