my book

I doubt many remember me.. I am me. I met my wife here. I used to write here all the time. And now I need you. I'm producing my book, my baby, my novel ad a serial and I'm looking for readers and for critics. This place used to have silly rules against links to other sites so to not piss off the powers that be I wont post the like yet... can someone let me know if a WordPress link is ok?

 

Wow, I've never seen such a shitty way of "asking the powers that be" for a favor.

Send me and cynthetiq the links in a PM, and we'll review. I'm trying to be nice, which is why I haven't automatically said "no". We'll have to change things behind the scenes if we're going to allow you to do this since you haven't posted enough to prove that you're not a spammer.

Personally id rather not be used for your personal gain. Many of us here have been here for many years and own our own businesses (including myself), but we've never thought about subjecting the good folks here to spam or advetisements for extra traffic to our personal sites.

Rules are in place for a reason. If Cynthtiq or Jazz decide to allow it, they will, after taking the interest of the rest of the members of board into consideration.

Again, personally, if you're not shy in telling me about our shitty rules, i wont be shy in telling you to go fuck yourself with that book of yours. Personally.

I'm sorry, but how are we supposed to know that you're not making anything off this? How do we know you're not in it for personal gain?

Listen, you left a long time ago, before most of us where here. Of the 6 posts you've made, half are complaints about the reboot in one fashion or another - and I'm counting the one I quoted because you seem to think that you deserve something.

Since my opinion matters here, I'm just going to state for the record that I'm even less inclined to give you what you want simply because of your attitude - that your past 1600 posts at the old TFP mean something here and that our rules should not apply to you. I'll review what it is you send to cynthetiq because he'll share it with me - that's the way things work at the new TFP, not that you'd know because you haven't bothered to participate here or even find out how the new TFP is different than the old - but, as I said before, you have a strange way of asking for favors.

Oh, and sorry about the server lag (or whatever it is) that made you doublepost. We know that there's an issue and we're trying to figure out what it is.

I didn't know that my membership was reset, and originally no matter how many posts you had hlal would attack any 'personal' link that wasn't porn.. hence my request

Guys, I'm very well aware of who he is, and I know at least part of the story. My issue here is that from the first post in this thread, the guy asking for the favor has belittled TFP ("silly rules") and shown no interest in anything other than what HE wants. Until Charlatan posted, there was no attempt to reconnect with another old member or even to acknowledge the passing of Uncle Phil.

losthellhound, you'll eventually get what you want, but I'll be damned if I'm going to raise a finger to help you get it. Good luck with the book and all, but I can't believe that you'd seriously come back and behave this disrespectfully when all you had to do was ask nicely.

 

I dont understand, this was me asking nicely.. not asking nicely would have been posting the link ;p and in the grand scheme of things, a ban on external personal links for a community online site IS a silly rule. As for reconnecting, this was the fastest route to reconnect. I used to have Charlatan's contact information, and Malificant's, but at the end of the day, I asked for something, and those who were friends, or recognized me as part of the community could come forward to greet me. Those who didn't know me would react with hostility as I was a stranger, and that is what happened.

There was no disrespect from my part..

as for Uncle Phil.. you of course realize there were different communities even within the community.. and I never interacted with them.. Though even if I did.. my regards to the family of the deceased is a private thing, even more private then most everything else I shared here.

 

We've got a lot in common.

 

1) Go reread the last sentence of your first post in this thread and think about it if you were a TFP staffer. The way I read it, we're all assholes.
2) You haven't bothered to read any of forum rules, which easily could have been changed in the 7 or 8 years since you've been gone. I'll give you a hint: they were.

which seems spot on for your particular situation here. Matter of fact, I'll go so far as to say openly that if you'd have PM'd me something politely I would have been all for it - or even if you hadn't taken the tone in your opening post that the rules that exist are there for a reason and that the staff isn't actually out to get you. Instead, you can't be bothered to know the rules of the space and you're predisposed to trashing the staff.

In the Bad Old Days, you'd have been banned by now. You're not, which I think says a lot. Matter of fact in about 5 posts, you're going to be able to post your link, and I'm not going to kill the thread and ban you for it (nor is any other staffer). My sole point from the beginning has been that you want something from us (both TFP and its staff), and you've asked for it in a way that I and others feel is disrespectful. Personally, I would have at least tried asking another way or apologized for accidentally being a jackass, but maybe that's me. But keep on thinking that you haven't been disrespectful. It's been working wonders for you so far.

I quite liked most of the powers that be, including some of those that posted here today... If you see the above statement as an attack you need to re-calibrate. It was a silly rule.. I didn't want to piss off the admins.. though by asking about it I seem to have done just that. Never see "powers that be" as an attack.. its quite the wonderful title actually. I strive to be a power that be..

And yes, the blame is mine, because if I did spend a few hours going through posts I would have found that you were running the show earlier.. but for some reason on my connection and on my phone.. the site takes four or five attempts to load.. which made it easier to ask.. but now I see the hornets nest, already kicked..

losthellhound , i dont know you from a bar of soap. So i have no reason to be nice or not nice to you. You may not be a stranger to some of the old timers here, but you're a stanger to me. And when strangers come into my place and shit on my floor, then telling me how nice my carpet is, im still going to be pissed.

You asked about personal gain. It doesnt need to be monetary. I'm not benefitting out of your links in any way, nor do i want to. You'll be benefitting readers/members or whatever t is that you're after. To me, thats still a personal gain.
