Congrats to the Lions! They're not in the POs (which they knew before the kickoff), but they're no longer a joke.

Mentioning jokes...I hope Arrogant Rodgers enjoys his offseason. Maybe Geno Smith will buy him dinner.

But now I'm going to have to root for...no, I refuse to think about it right now.

The Texans wasted no time: Lovie Smith has been fired.

I think Lovie Smith knew it was coming, before the Colts game. Which might be why the Texans stupidly won the game.

The Texans have screwed two black HCs. Culley should've been given another year to babysit a crappy team (a team no hot HC candidate in their right mind would've touch). Smith should've never been HC. I'm not going to say he deserved a second season because he didn't deserve the first one.

I hope the Texans are forced to explain their actions to the NFL (not that I think the NFL actually cares). Keep in mind I think qualifications are more important than skin color...but NFL teams have a very clear history of passing over black coaches who certainly appear ready to step up to HC.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with a new HC, their coaching staff, and the draft. Right now it's anybody's guess.

Which "lesser" teams are pull off the upsets in the POs?
    Who are your picks?

I need to examine the PO schedule a little more thoroughly. Some random thoughts:

    The Eagles without Hurts.

    The Ravens without Jackson.

    The Dolphins suck.

Have the Jaguars improved enough? No, judging by their pathetic win over the Titans.

Brady & the Bucs have been a yo-yo team all year.

The girls didn't close the season very strongly (I'm not counting, completely, the Commanders game).

The Bills have had some unnecessarily ugly close wins. Not just the fluke or two most good teams experience.

^ Same for the Chiefs ^.

Damar Hamlin has been transferred to a hospital in Buffalo. Healing mojo still being sent.

Kliff Kingsbury was the only other HC firing yesterday, but their was a lot of coaching activity yesterday.

The Titans did some house cleaning; I'm guessing Drabol has one more season to achieve a deep PO run.

Many people said the Horned Frogs weren't in the same league as the Bulldogs. I was disappointed the game wasn't on free TV (I would swear under oath I heard that ABC was also going to show the game), but by halftime it no longer mattered. The Frogs pathetic showing is on them...but I still hope they some day return the favor.

The Chargers can't stop choking...even with generous help from the refs. I had no dog in this fight, but once the non-calls favoring the Chargers started piling up I started rooting for the Jags.

The missed FG turned out huge.

The two point conversion was balsy.

That second half had to be something to see.
I was watching the Sabres game. I checked in on the football game during a couple of stoppages early on and the Chargers were running away with it so I never went back and looked again.
Which turned out to be a mistake.

I was net surfing on my tablet, was mostly listening by 27-0. Tony Dungy said the Jags had a chance if they could open the 2nd half with a quick defensive stop, followed by a TD. And that's what happened.

Bosa slammed his helmet down on the field, someone quickly retrieved it & gave it to him. He did it again. finally drawing a unsportsmanlike penalty. Which put the Jags close enough for Lawrence to go over the pile and get the ball across the GL for two extremely important points. If Bosa was that frustrated over the clearly missed false start, & frequently not called hold, it's a good thing he wasn't a Jags receiver.

Bad and missed calls go both ways, & usually don't affect the game...generally speaking. The officials were very lenient with the Chargers defenders. IMO.

Did anyone expect Dolphins 24, Bills 26? Maybe about to be 24 - 27.

    At 17-0 I started relaxing.
I think unfortunately Josh Allen did the same.
That was way too close for comfort.

The Dolphins were seriously hampered by the 3rd string QB (Skyler who?) when clock management mattered late in the game The Bills D really needs to get better real quick. I can see the Bills losing next week.

Congrats to the Giants. The Vikings looked vulnerable late in the regular season.

Damn shame the Ravens don't have Lamar Jackson playing.

    The Ravens almost did it.
If there is blame to go around for the Bills yesterday it's on Josh Allen.
The D was solid. The Dolphins racked up points off turnovers, including a fumble recovery for 6 points.
If Tua was in there the Bills would be coming in to pack their lockers today.
Then again if Lamar Jackson was in there for the Ravens the Bengals would be doing the same.
Should be a great one on Sunday.

I just heard the Jags were favored over the Chargers. ???. Maybe home field advantage? I don't bet so I rarely pay attention to the spread, although I do hope people betting on the cowgirls lose  :p.

    Mentioning the girls...
I've despised the girls long before Brady ever entered the NFL. Best case scenario: Brady leaves the game almost immediately, the girls stink worse than fresh cat shit, & the Bucs win (preferably big).

See this scenario I can live with.
I don't like the Cowboys but I will not ever root for Tom Brady.

The girls played a great game.

It's a shame Brady was able to pad his stats in garbage time.

I changed the channel right after the game, didn't want to hear any more.

Just like the good old days, me rooting for the 49ers against the girls.

Bye bye Bellichik, bye bye Brady.
Tom if you have any sense, stay gone.

I can see Belichick walking away.

Brady reminds me of a pro boxer who is past him prime, struggles against opponents he would've dominated, & takes punishment he used to avoid. But he manages to get enough wins (much closer decisions than previously), and look OK in his losses, to convince himself to keep fighting.

Someone with less ego would say I have enough records. I don't see Brady doing that, but he might surprise everyone.

The question is which team will take a chance on Brady, & what will it cost them?

What happens if the girls have a close game with the 49ers? Will Brett Maher return to form? Was his slump a one game fluke?

The Bengals won the hard way: They earned it. The Chiefs are in for a fight.

The Eagles won with a couple of exclaimation marks.

I'm now shifting to being a 49ers fan. Even though a rookie QB makes me nervous.

Another 1-1 PO run for the girls. Thank you, 49ers. Neither team had lot to brag about on offense, but the defenses were awesome.

WTF were the girls trying to on the last play?

I think the Eagles can beat the 49ers.

What a disappointment by the Bills.
It's been years since I questioned their coaching but I think questions have to be asked after what we saw yesterday.
Head coach and both coordinators should be feeling queasy after yesterday's non-effort.

Chris I agree I love the Purdy story and will be rooting for the Niners the rest of the way.

Uh...I'm rooting for the Eagles. Although I wouldn't be seriously upset if the Chiefs won it all. Which means we'll have the Bengals & 49ers in the SB.

A TD & a FG doesn't say much for the Bills, esp at home. I'd say the Bengals wanted to make statement.

The 49ers v the Eagles wasn't the game I, or anyone, wanted. In hindsight the 49ers might've pulled out the win with Purdy.

The 49ers D kept them in the game, & took them out of the game. But the Eagles put up 31 points with stats suggesting otherwise.

It certainly appears Hurts needs the two weeks to heal.
