Comments on Peaky Blinders?
What's a peaky blinder?
Annoying period television show. Didn't make it past the first 20m. And I tried several times.
I am enjoying it, had to get past the 2nd episode...
Finished, not bad...not Breaking Bad....vbg
It's basically about communists.
Well, that simplifies the plot...
As a viewer I would have liked to watch something about British rebellious people. I just wouldn't want to watch communist propaganda and even people who would make such a bargain might still appreciate a complexity which is natural. Given the state of things it's not honestly possible to analyse things and make statements about the series which doesn't include the extreme left wing propaganda.
Some of you might have noticed the odd occurance of movies like "Scarface" or "Goodfellas" on TV screens but I'm sure you won't say so. Although those pictures are displayed as taking place in "the great evil", where some people can still fend off some of their rights, those who aren't complete slaves don't get depicted entirely as bad people. That must be stopped, mustn't it?
So because I won't have your standard dogshits I must eat delicious and exotic zebra extrement or what are you saying?
I would never tell you what to eat. You are free to choose to stick to your fact free diet or not.
Are you a Liberala partiet ?
0.02% of the parliamentary vote last election.
Geezze....I just wanted some comment about Peaky Blinders.....I enjoyed it, I "thought" it was well done, it's a damn TV show..
As far as any "political" leaning....who gives a shit....I just want to watch a good series...I don't need to learn anything else....As Popeye said
I AM WHAT I AM... (or some such)
I kind of hate it because I'm actually quite into the history of organised crime and I'm a "fan" (if that can be the right word) of Darby Sabini - the way the show portrays him is ridiculous. I think in general its very hard to enjoy shows and books that are loosely based on real events when you have an interest of knowledge about the real history.
Ummmm,,, this is a TV SHOW...(besides what do Americans know about British "mafia" figures.)
well, that's my point. If you don't know the history its just a TV show. If you know some of the real history of the people in the show its annoying. Its not an American show its a British one (and most British people probably could name many British gangsters after the Krays and maybe the Richardsons) so I dont see what nationality has to do with it
I think that is a common problem with just about about every person with serious knowledge on a subject.
Things that don't bother other people will drag them straight out of enjoying the show.
The first version of Le Femme Nikita was pretty good but at one point Micheal, the assassin, weapons expert, all around masterclass killer, turned his gun sideways to shoot it.
Not because he had to, just because, I guess the idiots doing the scene thought it would look cool.
I didn't stop watching the show but you can tell, it still pisses me off.
There are lots of those that I won't list.
Okay one, two people using the same keyboard in NCIS so they can stop a hack. Like anyone has ever done that.
tl:dr - I understand where @Strange Famous is coming from, even though I have Peaky Blinders on my watch list and will probably enjoy it very much.
I "try" not to read too much into TV shows...you'll make yourself crazy with details.....It's TV man....(Vast Wasteland, what would you expect ...invented by Al Gore..)

"When television is good, nothing — not the theater, not the magazines or newspapers — nothing is better. But when television is bad, nothing is worse. I invite each of you to sit down in front of your television set when your station goes on the air and stay there for a day without a book, without a magazine, without a newspaper, without a profit and loss sheet or a rating book to distract you. Keep your eyes glued to that set until the station signs off. I can assure you that what you will observe is a vast wasteland."
I cannot watch Commercial TV, the ads, (Ask your doctor) the Hairhead newsreaders, washed up actors flogging gold and silver make me scream at the set....
I can however watch 3 hours of a "good" series on Netflix/Amazon in the late evening .... no problem....puts me right to sleep...
I will say that if TV disappeared from the face of the earth, I would NOT miss it....
Overdrive....(books from the library) I would surely miss
