    omega Very Tilted

First job was probably 11 or 12 with lawnmowing, one or two lawns a week. First job with a paycheck was lifeguarding at age 15 at the community pool.
First car was age 17, on my birthday. My dad and stepmother gave me her old 1985 Subaru station wagon. Five years old, 127,000 miles. Great car. Drove it for another 6 years to 197,000 miles. Kiss was 15 or 16. Sex was 17, in the Subaru.

How old was I for my first....

    Job?
Can't really remember. Paper route at 12, maybe. Some "unofficial" jobs after that. Burger King at 15, definitely.

    Car?
    My own car, 17.

    Library card?
Can't remember. Probably around ten. I read so much my mom got tired of keeping track of my books checked out on her card.

    Kiss?
Light & pretty meaningless, maybe nine.
    Serious, 17 or 18.

    Other?
    That could cover many things.

    Which is the most memorable?

All were in their own special way. Earning my own money for the first time felt great. Purchasing my own car was huge (partly a guy thing). Having my own library card made me feel more like an adult. First serious kiss for obvious reasons.

    CinnamonGirl The Cheat is GROUNDED!

First "official" job was 16, though I'd started babysitting around...11ish, I think.

I was lucky enough to get my first car at 16. It was a 1989 Buick Skylark. I named her Loretta :) The first (and so far, only) car I purchased entirely myself was a 1987 Chevy Celebrity (Layla) when I was 23.

I got my first library card when I was 5. I hadn't learned cursive yet, so I printed my name on the signature line (Mom had to "cosign" it.) Used that card up until I was 19 and my wallet got stolen...as a teenager, I was so embarrassed by the signature, but now I really wish I still had it.

I was 12 for my first kiss. It was a couple weeks before 7th grade started. We broke up a week into the school year.

Rode my first "grown-up" roller coaster when I was 10.

18 the first time I had sex, though we'd done "other stuff" when I was 17.

I read my first chapter book by myself when I was 7. Sweet Valley Twins #3: The Haunted House. I borrowed it from my stepsister-at-the-time, who was five years older than me.

14 was my first rock concert. I'd been to country concerts prior to that, but that was it. I saw The Eagles on their Hell Freezes Over Tour on my 14th birthday.

15 was my first love. I'd had boyfriends before, but not in the completely-head-over-heels, grinning like a fool, madly infatuated, making mix tapes for each other way. First real heartbreak came at 17, when we broke up. It was a bad/stupid breakup, but I remember him fondly now.

30 the first time I went to Dragon Con. It was magical.

32 the first time I saw the Pacific Ocean. I think I was 4 the first time I saw the Atlantic.

...goodness, I could keep going. I remember a lot of "firsts" very specifically, even the ones that seem boring and uneventful to others. I'm not sure which is the most memorable...I often refer to that Eagles concert as one of the best nights of my life, but falling in love at 15 was pretty rad, too.

    Job? 15, washing dishes

Car? 15, paid for with above. Had the car 6 months before I got my license.

Library card? Who knows, 5 maybe

Kiss? 16, Hard to get a date without the car and license.

Other? First time on skis? 9, this will be my 50th season. Met my wife? 9 in a judo class. I like to say that we've been fighting ever since (we didn't date until 24). First beer? About the same as my library card. My family is pretty lax about that.

Job? - I shoveled snow, mowed lawns, and had a paper route (actually, for a while I had three at once) by 12 or so. My first "real" job I got the summer I turned 14. Had to have a worker's permit to be legal in IL. Worked for an antique mall type place with a used office furniture store in the next building, owned by the same people. I was general "move that heavy thing from over here to over there" labor.

Car? - 15. My dad paid $250 for a used econobox with a blown engine. He had me help him take the old engine out and put a new one in. We had it together about the exact day I turned 16 and got my license. He paid for my first six months' insurance. After that all repairs, gas, and insurance were on me.

Library card? - 5. I remember it was exactly then because I went to a small (500 total students, K-12) school at the time. They had a read-a-thon thing to raise money for MS. Friends and family would pledge a given amount (it was the early 80s, so most were pledging $.05-.25) per book that I read during the read-a-thon. My parents made me stop "counting" the books at 50 because they didn't want people shocked by how much they owed by the time it was all over. I won a trophy and got my noggin in the local paper for raising the most money in the entire school.

Kiss? - Do all the ones my buddy's older sister (she was like 1.5-2 years older) used to plan on me when I was like 6-7 years old count? She used to make me play wedding, then play house, and she always was kissing on me, and I kind of had a crush on her. Probably why I ended up always dating older women...

  10. Job: SAY Soccer ref when I was 13. I got called a bitch for the first time. Good times.

Car: i was 16 when i got my 1985 Pontiac Firebird. I miss that car. The first car that I purchased with my own money...2008. I still have my Civic and I love it.

    Library card: No clue

Kiss: 5 His name was Charlie. He chased me. Kissed me. I smacked him. He cried.

Other: Became a mommy at 32

Which is the most memorable: Buying my Civic was probably my first Big Girl purchase. That's pretty memorable. Becoming a mommy at 32 was the best though!

Job that wasn't under the table: 15
Car that was my own: 19
    Library card: 5
    Kiss: 14

The kiss, for sure. It happened on the walk home as a bus rolled by and it was the biggest gossip at my junior high for two whole days.

Where I drew an actual paycheck, at Waldos Bookstore, got paid half in cash, half in book credit. I was 15.
Never owned a car since I don't drive.
I was ten and thought it was the coolest thing ever.
That's a tough one. There were a lot of kisses and make outs (I lived in the boon-toolies without electricity, kids did what they could to entertain themselves) but they didn't really mean anything.
I do remember kissing Donna Ring for the first time, only to discover she had just eaten hot peppers and it was burning my mouth but I kept going because it I'd been wanting to kiss her for so long.
Probably Donna, she's always going to be stuck in my mind as the one I let get away.

Job? First time I was paid to do work was likely 10 or 11. The first "real" job was 15 (Harvey's Burgers).
Car? 17 - I worked the summer painting fences by day and at my year 'round job at the hospital by night to save up for it.
Library card? 5 or 6? I can remember going to the library in Sr. Kindergarten and taking out books with my own card.
Kiss? 13 - it was messy.
Sex? 14 - it was messier.
Flight? 15 - it amazes me how much flying my own kids have done/did before they reached that age
    Other?

Which is the most memorable? They are all memorable for different reasons. I don't think I could rank these memories.
