Problem is...Belarus, that's right near Kyiv, the capital of the Ukraine.
The whole thing might be a trick.
Or they could easily turn from a "retreat" to an attack. even if initiall true.

If I were Ukraine, I'd be on guard.
Because Putin's been talking to Belarus, an ally, lately.

I hadn't really thought about that, but I'd absolutely be in guard. Wasn't Lukashenko (sp?) offering to allow nukes from Russia in Belarus?

It's already done, they've moved some there to Belarus.
So we have yet another place to worry about nukes.

Frankly, I don't think they'd likely use them on the US or Europe...right now, I'd say it's more likely they'd use it on a rebel group or city.
IMHO, that's where it's leading to.

Who knows where the next flare up is...

So odd to think the guy's Strava account may have been public and used to target his route...so odd to think someone in that position would post a public Strava route.

Does the Wagner Forces have the juice to get to Putin? The ability to assassinate in there, access is a very different story.

I just saw a report on ABC News saying the passenger manifest was provided by TASS immediately when news of the crash broke. The thought/question is how did TASS happen to have that info so handy?

I would say that it might be like the TSA or United giving the passenger manifest over to the FAA or NTSB. Even for private flights that have a logged flight plan and names of passengers, it might not be too hard to get quickly.

Although I have a feeling the FSB made sure he actually got onto this plane. Although it would be great if he posts a video saying that he isn't dead and that he knew Putin would try to kill him.

Mike Johnson's campaign contributions from company tied to Russia

    Already???
Doesn't a background check work anymore?

Anyone else noticing a pattern with under the table funding from Russia?

You'd think that the administration would be on top of this by now.
Ordering all the Alphabet soup of Intelligence agencies to probe all this clatter.

    Follow the fuckin' money already.
    And ACT on it.

But no, y'all are having a hard enough time prosecuting a rotten orange conman who's obviously done bad things.
Certainly can't look into all the others who might be influenced.

Russia's whole M.O. on the US now, is chaos to the enemy. (much less other opponent nations that Russia doesn't like)
It's a whole method of madness.

Now, the very powerful Speaker of the House position goes to another questionable and influenced person
one that is 2 steps away from the Prez seat.

It's NOT just this situation...but a trend that shows up again and again. (for at least the past decade)
then often gets ignored...or not followed up on...or not acted on.

Just spooky uncanny behind the scenes manipulation and influencing going on.
Yes, we may be paranoid...but that doesn't mean they aren't out to get us. (and here, not paranoid enough)

Ukrainian intelligence attacks and paralyses Russia’s tax system – photo

    * BTW, it's the Ukrainian Pravda, not Russian, so should be safe.

    Wow!! That's quite a hit.
I wonder how Russia is going to collect monies now...in the long run??

Now, if I know them better...they'll collect "something" and accuracy be damned.
Just more people going to prison...or the front lines.
The oligarchs, those with the most money, won't be hit...doubtful they paid anyway.
And Russia will collect $$$ from businesses, they're easier to track down. But they'll probably cheat quite a bit, but still pay something.

It's not a choke hold, but it definitely will be harder to breathe fiscally.

    Impressive.

I'm hoping the story is true, & not exaggerated too much.

Is my memory bad, or at one time did Ukraine have a reputation for being a major center for serious hacking? I know sometimes those accusations are made based on little or no evidence because it's easy to make them, and difficult to disprove.

Yes, before the invasion and Crimea take-over, Ukraine was in sync with Russian effort to creat havoc.
They were trained and high quality hackers.
But Putin wanted the Ukraine back under direct Russian control, to create the USSR again...so he stepped on Russia's partner in crime.
Putin's pride may be Russia's downfall. (a lesson Russia never seems to learn, they've been in this position before. Being bled dry by their own aggression.)
