Good news, but the numbers are still close. They bring to mind the Electoral College vs Popular Vote debate.

Example: Biden could make big gains among Texas* voters, which wouldn't mean anything when NPD Trump wins the state & gets all of the electoral college votes.

*Yes, I know Texas isn't a swing state.

Former Trump officials are among the most vocal opponents of returning him to the White House

    Too little, too late.

Unfortunately, there's half the population ready to vote for him.
Many Americans are oblivious or neglecting any negatives. (writing it off to, "that's just him")
Under the idea is ANY publicity is good.

The 5 alarm fire should have been sounded years ago.

Media just showing his face and name, for free marketing.

Unfortunately, we've had all opposition being polite, civil and fair...lingering with their thumbs up their asses.
    Pathetic.

    So here we are...AGAIN.

Too few, too late, too little attention paid to them.

The number of people who know how dangerous a second term for NPD Trump would be but won't speak out against him far outnumber the number of his vocal critics. Hell, many of his biggest critics have said they would vote for him, or have been coy about it.

Where were some of these people when NPD Trump was under serious scrutiny during Jan 06 impeachment hearings? Their "revelations" would've meant a lot more back then.

The news media loves the outrageous Agent Orange 45, & the current news about him, but doesn't give enough coverage to the people who know the real NPD Trump. The coverage is brief, gets "old" quickly, with little follow-up.

20 years after Idiocracy came out
And it’s looking more realistic than ever

Half the people want to vote for a character worse than the the movie’s prez, Hector Commacho (ex-wrestler/pornstar)

I can only hope the other half wins.

    This is surreal.

So much for being in 2024
500 years earlier than the time in Idiocracy
    We’re ahead of schedule…

I think I'm following what you're saying. I only saw the movie Idiocracy once, because someone loaned us the DVD, insisting we would like it. It had its moments.

I hope we don't devolve into a nation of lower level magatards.

    A horrible thought:
    The GOP finds someone
just as bad Agent Orange 45,
    but with the slick communication
    skills of Raygun.
    Oh, shit!

Edit, maybe? The posting delay has returned?
No, it just didn't "take" the first & second times.

Biden’s budding behemoth, Trump’s legal spending and other campaign finance takeaways

I know that $$$ isn't the end all factor in a presidential campaign
but it IS a factor, one of many that can pile up.
You need to have as many different ones going with you. (and avoid those against.)
    Everything Counts.
    It's Chaos Theory in action.

That being said, at least this is a positive so far for Biden.
Hope his team is able to leverage it properly.

I think one of the things that his campaign should take lessons learned on, is Hillary's
Where they presumed certain states were going to go her way.

I'd suggest to Biden, don't presume anything, don't let up...all the way to the end.
Use the cash, spread the wealth, keep it going all the way.
    Is this less than ideal??
Yes...BUT if your opposition has the weapon, you should use the weapon.
And if you have a bigger weapon, use that.

Because, the other guy, if he could, he would...no hesitation, no shame and would hit as hard as he could.

AND remember, the nation IS at stake.
    That does make a difference.

That's where the honor is, keeping the nation safe and a potential tyrant away.

I can tell you there are times when money seriously matters. In our last mayoral race Sen. John Whitmire only beat his much better known opponent Sheila Jackson Lee by about five percent in the general election, then the runoff.

He out spent her by around five to one. We were battered constantly by ads showing what a deeply concerned Whitmire would for Houston. They never stopped.

‘Eye popping numbers’: Donald Trump’s electoral math problem that will not go away — MSNBC

    Just happened yesterday…
    The Pennsylvania primary

And in a CLOSED primary, 17% of the GOP voters voted for Nikki Hayley.
    …weeks after she dropped out.

The video makes some good points.

IMHO, I don’t know what to make of it. I don’t trust things by now.
Yes, it’s worrying to Chump’s campaign
But Americans are very fickle. They’ll turn on a dime with any piece of news.

We saw this in the Hillary/Chump vote
Many flipping in the last week because of the unprecedented release of an investigation on those friggin’ emails.

All we need is one stumble from Biden. Or the economy to turn down.

Again frankly, it’s surreal we’re here
With a man who’s so bad a person, and a bad history, with so many things anchoring him down, yet gets many people considering him.

So I don’t know what to think
Much is topsy-turvy from what I’d think logical.

I can only hope that rational minds finally win in the end.

Speaking of which, Biden had a nice gimme to add to the fold. Yet another union. (the things that Chump hates)
Biden picks up another big union endorsement, this one from building trades workers

Election Predictor With Near-Perfect Record Gives Major Clue On His 2024 Pick
    Well, that's nice to hear.
    Crossing my fingers, IMHO

Makes ya wonder what the hell the news and polls are doing to gum up the works.
Is it just to make a horse race???

These folk are like Short Sellers, hoping to make a buck off of the negative.
They don't give a crap about the damage. "I got mine"

I don't have much faith in the level of Blue Uprising & Apathy Shedding we had 2020, but I can see a lot more Red Non-Parcipitation.

People really need to consider what Agent Orange 45 would do if elected. We could see military action being required to remove him.

RFK Jr. is all over conservative media. Trump’s camp is concerned.

There's a question who'd he'd affect more, Biden or Chump, as a spoiler.

He tends to be more conservative in his rhetoric, but he's also a Kennedy.

    So, as a conservative...
Is he taking more from Chump, for conservative voters...or would he be stealing those conservatives and GOP who'd end up voting for Biden, not for Chump???
Or is he stealing a few ignorant Dems who don't like Biden and would vote for him just from name recognition?

Perot was a spoiler for Bush Sr.
But Nader was a spoiler for Gore. (and there were "just enough" to make a difference in that VERY close race)

Frankly, it could go either way.
but Chump's got more to lose from RFK, considering all the cases and negatives loading up on him.

IMHO, the Fed is way more the killer for Biden. Making higher rates more of a burden on "joe/jane citizen".
And trying to increase the unemployment rate, making harder for businesses to get loans and bring in new people.
That's why people are pissed at him, inflation and high rates.
It also doesn't help that companies are in a feeding frenzy of higher prices for their wares and services.

Biden proposes debates in June and September, and names terms. Trump says yes — NPR

Biden being bold, I’ll give him that.
And setting it on his terms.

Chump accepting, is good, but I’ll believe it when I see it.
He has a habit of turning around, even at the last minute.

Both don’t seem to trust the commission.
So how will they exist after this???

IMHO, I approve of only have one on one,
With the 2 that statistically will affect the Electoral College.
(do I wish for other parties or substantial candidates? Yes, but we’re not there yet)

Especially since neither has debated yet this election.
    One refused
The other didn’t have any competition.

Frankly, this whole thing has been screwed up and less than ideal, this election.
    Democracy is wounded

    Yet, we are here.
Hope it changes in the future.
If we have a US as we know it then…

Biden needs some help with his public speaking, always has. But would it be too little, too late? Perhaps he tried it, but what we see is the best we'll get.

Trump's performance will depend on how the moderator(s) treat him. Will he be forced to stay on track & actually answer questions, or will he be allowed to make every answer a bombastic campaign speech?

Will any swing voters be influenced one way or another?

And here we go...Chump and his minions squirming
    Very predictable.

And Chump's allies and sycophants, doing everything the can to represent him in courts, and attempt to distract Biden. (every ploy you can think of)
    Biden's allies...calm

Biden's real distraction is his job...and the rest of the world. He's ignoring the BS.

but in campaigning, he's way more experienced than TFG.
    He'll stay cool
And he knows what buttons to push.

    So far, he's bold.
What's hurting him is the citizen's impact and financial pain...Biz is doing real good, but normal people are angry at the costs of biz taking the profits.

Chump is likely to play poorly, respond poorly.
But he's not Biden's problem...the corporate fat cats are. (it's why the unions are going for him, but unions aren't what they used to be)

I believe Biden will win this by more than the polling is indicating. I can't see, push to shove, Biden losing significant support he had in 2020, but I think moderates and Lincoln Republicans are going to vote for Biden. I think they'll feel decently comfortable with a rich, old white guy who has vowed to work on abortion rights.

Women alone may secure this election.

The hard right assmouths are already planting the seeds for why NPD Trump will perform poorly in the debates, namely the "unfair" rules were set by Biden.

    https://www.politico.com/news/2024/05/17/biden-trump-debate-2024-demands-00158586

No crowds and the ability to shut off NPD Trump when he tries to interrupt sounds good to me.

Unfortunately I can't rate your post both optimistic and agree.

The factor that could hurt Biden is some of the people who voted for him in 2020 aren't usually active voters, their return to apathy combined with many new restrictions on voting could mean fewer votes for Biden.

Hopefully many Repubs who can't bring themselves to vote for NPD Trump won't vote. Maybe some of them will vote for Biden.

I agree with that as well - I know it's optimistic. I'm assuming that because of our electoral system Trump will win places like where I live in South Carolina... but that in the states that split in 2020 Biden will come out.

I also really think women could / should dominate voter drive issues.

Dems have cleaned up in all elections since Roe was overturned.

Donald Trump’s campaign says it will begin accepting contributions through cryptocurrency

This is just going to put more dark money into politics.
Normalize it...then they won't track it as much. (and who it comes from).

Frankly, I'm surprised Chump hasn't done this before.

And he'll use this to catch up to Biden.
He gets $$$ where he can. He doesn't care.

    Corrupting exponentially.

It's a win-win situation...he gets the cash, and even if it crashes, it's not his to worry about.
    The damn dam has broken.
