I don't know who else is watching this new show.

I was skeptical at first...but I have been won over and then some.

ROTFLMAO funny...even to use a long meme like that.

SOooo...funny, that I have to pause it, just to get thru portions...bit by bit.
Because I know what's coming and I can only take some much.

He is so good at mocking the stupidity of the world and events...it's awesome.

So much so...he's now considered a threat by Thailand. (no joke, for real...noted on this week's episode and in the news)

    Has anyone seen this???
    And what do you think?

**Note any weekly bits you might like.
(I loved the congressman who mixed up our State Dept reps with Indian officials :D )

I haven't been able to watch it live but usually try to catch the released portions over the week.
He pretty muck, proved himself when he took over for John Stewart.
    His show is hysterical.
The one going after Dr Oz was just brilliant.

We watch it together every Monday night; we have HBO, but neither of us stay up past 10. I really enjoy his take on things. John Oliver is a good comedian, and he has an interesting perspective as a different kind of immigrant to the United States (Oliver received his green card a few years ago, and said the whole process of finally getting it was very stressful) than what we usually see. I appreciate his drier sense of humor and general Britishness. His piece on FIFA was fantastic.

I love the depth that they go on on issues like this one. I feel that there is a great deal of careful consideration that goes into their pieces. Additionally, the production values are great.

I told my husband that when we move we have to pay the extra for HBO. I don't want to live without John Oliver now.

Just watched this week's episode and man, so many funny parts! Along with that, though, is a good chunk of serious news. The piece on our nuclear arsenal was informative and interesting.

Never heard of this fellow until yesterday or so but I am impressed. Judging by the clips posted here it it has sharp writing and crisp presentation that holds your interest.

Not only that...but his angles are straight on.
Just never said that real on TV.
    About damn time...

I hate the PC bullshit...give it to me straight and real.
And making it fucking funny too is a bonus.

This bit from the Maclean's piece really hits the nail on the head, I think:

His piece on prison last week ran for 17 minutes.

Nuclear weapons clocks in at just over 15.

The nuclear weapons piece was excellent--if you haven't watched it yet, do so.

I should note that one of the other things I'm loving about this show is that all of the really important segments are up on their official YouTube account the day after they air. They want people to link these pieces, watch them, and talk about them.

I see little clips from the show posted here and there, but apparently you can't just watch any episodes (even old ones) without paying out a lot of cash to HBO.

And we pay an obscene amount per month for cable as it is.

John Oliver's a very talented guy, but I'm not interested in paying hundreds of dollars per year just to see him.

The precise reason I do not have HBO now and likely will not at any point in the forseeable future. I would be happy enough with Amazon Prime and the HBO options on there but that will have to wait as well.

Also his way of making the Supreme Court interesting is priceless.

Just saw this tonight. John Oliver was on his game. I especially liked the fact that he brought the young man, Mohammed, onto his show.
