What is your priority? Pistol or rifle training?

So here's the situation. I was looking my local training school's upcoming classes for the new year. I was already considering two classes "Street & Vehicle Tactics" and "Intermediate Defensive Rifle."

And of course as luck would have it when the 2012 schedule came out they were both scheduled during the same weekend.

This conundrum got me thinking quite a bit about my training priorities. While I believe the rifle course would be more "fun" with all the running around and shooting from barricades, the Street Tactics class might be more useful for everyday life. I think as a private citizen I'm more likely to be mugged within 2 yards than get into a rifle battle at 50 yards out in the street by my house.

Thoughts?

Oh yeah and there's a 14% off coupon which brings the cost down to $600 efor each class, but it expires december 31st so I have to make a decision soon

 

I also wanted to add, outside of major cities and outside of work or home, the majority of your time in the public is in or around vehicles so I really do think the vehicle course Is more proper.

 

Yes I agree, I will likely take the intermediate rifle course the summer after this.

I came to the realization that relying on my REI hiking first aid stocked with quick clot was about as foolish as the fat guy at the range who has a $2k noveske but can't walk up a flight of stairs.

 

As much as I dislike being pestered about rattle-canning my AK47, I must say, you're developing very well as a responsible gun owner (or, elite-tactical operator, lol).
