Last night in boot camp, our instructors presented us with the blueprint for a 29 day fitness challenge that's supposed to start next week. They encouraged us to involve people outside the class, so here we are.

Disregarding the fact that the flyer was made using Comic Sans, here it is, with a PDF version available for download as well:

For logistical purposes, I suppose it would make sense for participants to post their daily progress in this thread, unless we think that would clog things up enough to justify posting on a weekly basis instead. Since there's a week before the thing actually begins, I guess details can be ironed out in advance... assuming anybody here actually decides to participate in this thing.

For the purposes of this specific challenge, everything here is a bodyweight exercise (as in air squats as opposed to weighted squats). Squat with your thighs parallel to the ground at minimum. Push-ups can be performed regularly with your feet on the floor, or modified with your knees on the floor. And leg lifts in this case, are these:

I guess that's it for now. Who's in?

Holy shnikes, that's a lot of leg lifts.

    I...I think I'm in. I'm a little frightened, but I think I'm in.

Are you not seeing the number of squats?!

That's the one that's freaking me out. Haha

What are they defining as leg lifts? The lower ab exercise, or something else?

@damnitall attached a gif to the OP. Lower ab exercise.

So in. I just printed it off so I can check it off as I go. Thanks, @DamnitAll! This will be great motivation.

  9. Hmmm.....how about I catch you guys after I get rid of this parasite and recover from said removal?

Actually, I could probably do the squats and then modified leg lifts and maybe wall/counter pushups. I tried to do a real pushup the other day, but the belly got in the way.

Nah...I'm going to wait until after the baby's born.

Since you're having a C-section, you actually will be quite limited in things like squats etc. for a little while, to allow your poor abdominals to heal properly. Take it easy for a while. :)

I was just about to ask what leg lifts are.
I might make up something similar to do. I'm terrible at push ups. And I'd rather do chair sits than squats...

@zombiesquirrel, even if you don't do a c-section, take it easy on your abs for at least half a year. If your girl is anywhere near as big and kicky as mine was, your abs are going to need to be eased into working out again slowly.

  12. Yeah, I have a feeling my ab muscles will be non existent for awhile. So sad since it's my core is my favorite thing to work out.

You need to add some pull ups or inverted rows. There's no back exercise.

It's neat but not really compatible with my current fitness regimen, so I'm going to just join @Fremen in the cheering section.

Personally, I do plenty of back exercise through aerial, so that doesn't bother me. Maybe prone rows with a theraball if everyone has one? I don't have a pullup bar at home (no doorway it will fit in).

Don't yet have it, but I'll update the thread once I do.

@Martian, I would personally agree with you and can't claim credit for designing the routine. The class instructors last night did make a note to mention that the movements recorded for this challenge are meant to be done in addition to whatever base routine we already have going on, whether that's regular class attendance or gym workouts or what have you. Going hand in hand with that point is the fact that none of the exercise you'd be doing in your daily routine would count towards the totals needed for this challenge.

    Ok, I'm in.

But I'll have to be careful for the number of push ups later in the calendar...I've got an old injury that messes with my left elbow.
Happens when you fall 12 feet into an empty concrete pool...

squats, no issue...leg lifts in my sleep.

Got to get back to the gym too.

    Do we start tonight???

Yeah, those are a little intimidating. But I also know my legs are in WAY better shape than my abs, so therein lies the dread. :/

  19. That's one big reason why I'm agreeing to this; I'm kind of afraid of squats. Do them wrong, and shit gets wrecked.
