So guys, it's totally cool to take my week old baby to the theatre so I can go see this, right?

Avoiding spoilers until it's out on blu ray is going to be a bitch.

Sadly, newborn ears can be greatly damaged by that level of sound. My wife worked for an otolaryngologist for many years, and that was something that many parents never knew. My wife cringes any time we see a little baby at action movies, sporting events, or anywhere loud.

Yeah, taking a newborn to a movie theatre is not a thing I'd actually do. I'll just some day have to tell this kid how much I sacrificed for her benefit.

No spoilers, but having seen it on Friday, I have to say it's the movie that I hoped it would be.

K2SO may well be my favourite SW character of all time.

I'm looking forward to the home release, because I really want to run it straight into New Hope... :)

Fantastic movie, easily miles better than Force Awakens with incomparably better character writing. They really did Star Wars justice with this one although I'll admit being a little disappointed Kyle Katarn got written out of canon.

I was also impressed they had the balls to make what is definitely not a happy movie. They should fire Jar Jar Abrams and his entire staff and have the Rogue One team unfuck the main continuity. MaRey Sue and The Mighty Janitor might just be saved by some serious retconning and good writing.

Someone on the team had to be a KOTOR fan.

Excellent movie and really one of the best next to Empire Strikes Back.

Reading Catalyst just before going to the movie helped flesh out some of the back story with the Erso Family, Krennic, and Tarkin. Even Saw has a minor part in the book.

In general I thought the movie was well done. I liked it nearly as much as Force Awakens, and it may even grow on me more when I see it a couple more times. Having two in a row that were among the best in the entire story line makes me pretty excited about the movies to come.

    (Very ambigious spoiler ahead.)

I read one article that said Gareth Edwards had originally sketched out a different ending because he didn't think Disney would let him finish it the way he wanted to. Supposedly he was surprised that no one pushed him to adjust it at all. To me that gives reason for optimism that the movies to come won't have to fit a Disney story book ending either.

I didn't watch any trailers or anything about it just like Force Awakens and other Marvel movies. I don't buy into the hype machine because I just want to watch an escapism movie to escape. It doesn't have to be Shakespeare, it has to let me escape for a few hours.

Saying that I just watched it this morning and look forward to another screening.

I thought it was a great movie. I also avoided any commercials or internet discussion ahead of time.

The only nit-picky things were, there was no yellow scrolling text at the beginning. I'm not sure why it was cut out. I also think that R2-D2 and C-3PO should have had a few more lines. And in episode 4, they say the Emperor just dissolved the galactic senate, but I'm not sure how or when that really happened. (Not that it could have worked into this movie.)

But, I did like the backstory of the rebellion that it told. And I wouldn't be surprised if there is another one or two that could be written.

I'm pretty sure they came out and said there would be no opening crawl for any "star wars stories" movies. Only canonical episodes get crawls.

I think the fan service scenes were long enough, no more needed to be added. Any more lines from the cameos and it would have been to much.

I thought the fan scenes were nice but if I had seen it in a full theatre with fanboys it would have been distracting.

I already thought the location names were overdone and too pronounced but I guess that's today's people's expectations.

We saw it opening night. I thought it started off a little slow, but it was a slow burn that exploded towards the end. Pretty sure I cried the entire last 20 minutes BOTH times we saw it. Then
that surprise cameo, and I started sobbing (this was before anything happened, it was just, uh, very emotional for me.)
As the credits rolled, Eden looked over and said, "there's nothing post-credits."

    "I know," I answered. "I just need a minute."

We've seen it twice, and I've been thinking about going again on Saturday.

    Good flick
Not to much of "over-Force"....meaning having The Force overly manipulating a conflict situationally. (like previously, when little Anakin just happened to destroy a starship by accident...or Rey out duel a fully trained Sith)
Decent physics (except the sound in space or visible slow lasers...but this gets a bye and doesn't count in StarWars)
Hell, even the stormtroopers could shoot accurately and often gave as good as they got.
Loved the technique of dealing with Star Destroyers
And ya gotta like the new droid...with attitude.
Good conflict, fairly real...felt like "Empire Strikes Back" in style.
I even liked the CGI cameos (although this IS where acting is going...)

Saw Passengers after...great Sci-Fi Rom-Com...like "When Harry Met Sally" in outer space. I recommend it. :)

I'm not sure about the new droid. It seemed like a marketing gimmick to sell toys instead of a real character since I don't remember that model in any of the 4 movies that are supposed to happen after that. The R2 units were the ones that were missing from the X-wing fighters.

And I also saw Passengers, and it was a great sci-fi movie too. It was not what I was expecting it to be either.

Saw it a couple of weeks ago. Will probably see it again when it hits a cheaper theatre in a few months.

I'm terrible about revealing spoilers, so I'll just say that I enjoyed it and will watch it again.

So, if you liked this you should really watch Andor on disney+. Just finished, and completely smitten with it. Probably the finest disney+ original, and certainly better than any other disney show. Mandalorian was good. Boba Fett ok. Kenobi was dull. Wandavision was good, finished weak. This was strong the whole way. Like rogue one. Dark. Decisions had consequences and weight. The planet and culture were actually fleshed out. Imperials were people, not just cocky bullet sponges. There was a heist. A doublecross. And a rebellion. As much as I love comic relief like much of marvel and star wars, this show felt like the rebellion actually mattered.
