@DAKA All of that was interesting and I had questions but then reached the painting part... What are you painting? What paints are you using? Is it a subject you like to paint? Sucks about studio not having A/C. :( Is it a piece you can transport somewhere cooler or are drying times and/or size prohibitive?

Long story short, I "imitate" Jackson Pollock, been doing it since mid 70's
I have a whole "bio" somewhere from when I used to "flog" my stuff...these days galleries are into renting wall space..I gave up trying to sell and just paint for "therapy"
(I have dozens of them in storage...when I "go" maybe Ms. Daka will sell them.)
I use epoxy paints, what auto body shops use, so every one of my paintings can be dated by what colors were popular on cars in the year span.

Epoxy paints are so cool and have such a great glossy texture. Do you have to have a well ventilated workspace? I was painting a person for a nude art show in Portland one year and another artist used primer freaking car PRIMER and epoxy paints on a nude human being! The smell was outrageous and headache inducing and eventually the other artists and models got them removed from the room as it was not safe to breathe, nor did it seem at all smart or sound to use on a human being.
Oops we got off of Netflix topic. I don't know how to remove this away to a different thread.

OK, back on track...FORTITUDE is finished. From what I read there "may" be another season..in the future. (No spoiler here)
Overall the series was good, there have been better, but also a LOT worse...I'd say worth watching if you like a bit "bizarre" (better word?)
As far as the painting, these paints are TOXIC, and should NEVER be used on human bodies...I have a huge fan and place the work near the big roll up door.
I limit my use, since the colors need to dry between applications I'm usually on 30 to 40 minutes of use...and lots of air. When I finish the work it gets clear coated at my friend's body shop...my Paintings range from 2 1/2' x 4 ' to 4 x 8 ' and larger.
Oh, and don't worry about OT, you know what happens to threads....

Oh agreed it was horrible that they put primer and those paints on her, this is rude and bitchy but it looked like crap too. In the end she was wrapped in caution tape and such blegh. What was meant to be avant garde came off as dimwitted. I'm not one to talk lol mine was trite and prissy. I painted my model's torso blue, and painted cherry blossoms on her lol. posted the sketch in Good Girl Bad Girl art (probably NSFW) ....WOuld love to see your paintings! :D

Nicely done...Have you ever seen what happens in Key West with the body painting?
Something to be seen! Then again some of them are burned in your brain and you are sorry you looked...
My paintings, well, I'll try to post some

    Wildermaid,
YOU are making a huge assumption...I need a *** click here to post a picture from my computer**.
The only way I can post pictures is....I take the picture with my I phone, then by PFM it goes to my computer, .....google photos...then I can open google photos and add the picture to an e-mail....
Consider this, all you young people grew up with this technology, I retired (1990) because of it.
At my age if it is "too much trouble" I just say f*** it, and go on.
Oh, and for some reason I used to be able to download pictures from a camera to my Chromebook, but for some reason that doesn't work anymore.
My one son "the Computer one" just shakes his head, # 2 son "the Dr one" tells me not to "play with the programs"...somehow I am able to always screw it up.

@Wildmermaid To the Bone was intense as it was acted, written, and produced by a number of individuals who have firsthand experience with eating disorders. They did a great job with the reality of diversity in all aspects of the term but the treatment stuff was a little off for me and the ending was a bit of a cop out. That being said, the visual images warranted the trigger warning that was left out of 13 Reasons (which I refuse to watch).

@Japchae I'm not watching either one and may be under a mistaken assumption that both in some ways glorify their subjects. May just be personal bias but having a read a lot about 13 Reasons before it was filmed it seemed potentially dangerous. My grandmother is a lifetime anorexic so I'm giving To The Bone a pass, also I feel that in the publicity they tried to make the main character look sort of ethereal and to my untrained eye that seemed pro ana.

Glad they did a good job with diversity though. They did have a trigger warning? Those seem to be a wise idea, and I kind of hope they catch on.

@DAKA I did not mean to make any assumptions, I was just trying to help. Sorry if I came off as bossy or thoughtless. I have a mac computer and an android phone so sharing is impossible without sending images through email or uploading from my phone in the tapatalk app, which sometimes works.
Wish your sons were showing more patience and would help you instead of telling you not to touch things.

I was and am very verbal about my issues with 13 Reasons and Netflix' handling of the show WITHOUT a trigger warning. To The Bone started out with a full 10 seconds of why not to watch and to be aware that the material is sensitive and quite raw. 13 Reasons disgusts me. We led a group for parents and other concerned adults to discuss how to talk about the show and the issues with teens, at work. So frustrating. I actually found Suits on Amazon Prime streaming and am having a blast with it. I belive its the same guy as is in Legion... Which is also fantastic and should come to Netflix eventually.

    I marathoned The Punisher.
If you watched the second season of Daredevil, you understand what a great job the actor did with the role and he just keeps going here.
The actor that plays Micro the hacker is equally good and is a perfect foil to the stoic Frank Castle.
The show focuses on the horrible job this country has done of dealing with our veterans (something I deal with working with those who have been disabled) and does a pretty good job of it.
It is intense and brutal at times with some nice interpersonal moments that really make you feel for the characters.
I recommend the show if you don't mind a fair amount of violence and intense moments.

  14. The wife and I have watched BREAKING BAD and BETTER CALL SAUL, then the first season of STRANGER THINGS and OZARK. We've seen all episodes of THE RANCH as well.

Tonight, I was just looking around and stopped on ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT, which I've seen, but my wife hasn't. We watched three episodes--she isn't as impressed as I am.

Altered Carbon is the new science fiction series they started and it kicks ass.
The book is by Richard Morgan and I loved it.
They did a good job of turning it into a series, exploring the world that develops when people can just download themselves into new bodies whenever they want to.
I will say that since it is a detective story the first 4 or 5 episodes are a bit slow.
They are setting you up for the absolute killer second half.
It gets seriously crazy after that.

I don't have it because I like leaving the house.

Although I have watched a few episodes of Black Mirror, and it is a great show. It is too depressing to binge watch multiple episodes back to back though. A little too real sometimes, or at least shows the downside to where technology might take us.

Just watched the new Steve Martin and Martin Short comedy special. I really enjoyed it. Two excellent entertainers doing a classy old school show. Definitely worth watching. And both have aged so well.
