I think it is a tragically beautiful memory and thank you for sharing it. <3

My wife is very conservative about nudity, and that has rubbed off on my children as they got older. I am far more casual, but out of deference to my family's preferences, don't run around naked. My kids aren't sure whether or not my stories are true about the clothing-optional swimming hole near where I grew up (they are). That sort of explains at least part of my unconcern about occasional nudity.

Modesty with kids really seems to hit home with adolescence, for obvious reasons. Many years ago, when my first son was about 3, I remember standing on my back deck, talking to my neighbour, and casually asking him, "Why is my son running naked through your back yard?". He replied just as casually, "Well, I'm not sure, but it here comes my son just as naked, and it kind of looks like they are running from my daughter." She, at least, had a shirt on. Never did find out what was going on.

I remember doing things like that with my neighbor and his sister, we were about 8 or 9

  4. I know this is very common in Europe, but I wouldn't be comfortable being nude around my parents, step-children, or siblings. I don't recall ever having seen my parents nude, and haven't seen siblings nude since they were babies.

Interesting to me, I was just thinking about this subject this past weekend.
My GS and I see eachother naked almost daily. He is 5 going on 6 yrs.
We've done this for at least two years. Well since he came to live with me. I get him ready for his day every day. And run bubble baths on the weekend which turns into him just playing while I do something else.
I keep him and his privates clean. If I didn't he wouldn't. So at what age do I stop? IDK

I would say it is time to start having him take the lead on that. That way it starts becoming routine for him.

I'm not sure that being naked around your children is a good thing. This behavior could lead them to being more promiscuous in the future.

    Yeah, no.

I can think of a lot of reasons that being naked around your kids might be complicated, being more promiscuous in the future isn't one of them.
There are many people who have been raised in homes were nudity is common.
There is no proof that they are any more sexually active then kids raised in more conservative homes.

And as Lindy says, Welcome to TFP.

    Maybe. Maybe not.

Kids used to nudity might be less curious which might make them less likely to rush into sex.

No doubt this has been studied.

I suspect that, as usual, there are different standards that define promiscuity for girls and boys.

There was some familial nudity in my family and I was an "early adopter" of sexual activity.

But that association does not establish causality.

The body language of the deputies looks like anything but "how to get in her pants" pointers.

Dads get overly protective of their daughters' "virtue." I'm incredibly grateful that Dad (and Mom too) were able to accept and recognize my sexuality. Instead of trying to put that genie back in the bottle. Which would only have driven me away from my family.:( They both helped me with avoiding pregnancy, STDs, and cautioned me about dangerous situations. And that I could not only hurt myself, but also others.

TFP brothers, if one of your daughters turns out to be a hyper-sexual (like me) treat her with empathy and understanding. Don't clamp down, and don't take her sexuality as a failing on your part.

The image is obviously posed. I thought my attempt at humor was obvious.

Using the laptop it's easy to add ;):):D:p.

On my phone I've yet to figure out how to use the TFP emoticons. From what I've seen the phone emogees don't show in my posts here.

    Technophobe? No.
    Technodumbass? Yes.

I haven't really given much thought to my daughter's sexuality or how I'll handle it. Off the cuff answer: probably as little as possible. Make sure she stays safe and uses protection, make sure she knows that it's her body and nobody else's, and that nobody (including me) has right or reason to dictate how and when she chooses to use it, but apart from that I think I probably want to know as little as possible. Even thinking about it now is profoundly disconcerting for me. I'm pretty far out into hippy-doo liberal feminist land but contemplating my daughter's future sex life still manages to fall well outside my comfort zone.

But I also don't think nudity is inherently sexual, so that doesn't have much bearing on this thread.

My daughter and I had a bath together tonight. We splashed each other, and played with her rubber duckie. It was fun.
