Does anyone here actively play the market?

Ok here's a trade I have on now: See if you can understand the position as it now stands, and I'll post trades as they evolve.

    On Monday I bought 10 IWM June 19 2020 strike 120 puts for $4.62.
    How much did I spend?
How much can I gain? How much can I lose?
What's the underlying index? How many shares of the underlying do I notionally control?
Are the puts in the money or out of the money?
    Is the position currently profitable?

Let me know, and let's hope for a gap down Monday morning to make this fun.

Lindy eager to hear your current take on Berkshire after the "meeting".
Lots of cash on hand, poor investment returns recently and Warren isn't getting any younger.
Are you still as bullish as you were in the past?

What is the best app or site for trading? Mainly penny stocks. I want one that has no minimum balance, no minimum deposit and dosent cost anything to trade.

I can vouch for the quality of the user experience at TD Ameritrade. Have been their customer for many many years.
Costs seem low/reasonable to me but have not done any comparison shopping in a long time.

I have had my little play account on etrade for a while. No issues thus far.

This market defies reality, but I think reality will eventually settle in. Millions of people out of work. The ones working are probably not spending as much. We are a consumer based economy and money is not flowing. The market will crash at some point. Upside is maybe this will help topple the unindicted criminal trump and his republican co-conspirators. Or maybe his asswiping with the constitution and trampling of the 1st amendment. But I digress (so easy with that shitstain in the oval office).

I too am baffled by the current rally.....but it's real and right now it's way too powerful to fight.

Anyone else get in on gamestop? I thought 20 was too high, then 40 was crazy. So of course I bought 10 shares at 97 a pop. After about 4 days, I sold 3 shares at 405 each to lock in my cost plus 200 dollars. Finally sold my other shares today at around 95 each. So all told I made around 850 on the 10 shares. Would have been nice to have sold at 400 and made 3000 dollars profit, but such is life with imperfect information. I know it was purely speculative, but it got stressful keeping track every minute of the day.

Ehh, my poor stepson bought into the hype. He bought 7.7 shares at 65 before i bought in. So easily in the money. Told him when I sold 3 shares to cover my cost and lock in 200 in profit. Then told him I was getting out. He said he did too when I did. I asked him how much he made. Turns out he bought more at a way higher price. Won't tell me how much, but said his losses are around 2000. I wish he had talked to me. This Won't break him, he is a saver. But he's upset. Thing is, he's a bright kid and I think he will learn from it and start taking investing seriously. He'll end up as one of those diligent 401k holders with a couple million at retirement.

The thing about DOGE is that at the price, you can risk $40.00 and come away with a little profit if you pay attention

Following Peter Lynch's buy what you know with ingersoll-rand and Fubo sports.

I look at the crypto market as like the u.s. auto industry in the beginning of the 20th century. 400 auto manufacturers and 30 years later there were like 10 real ones. 30 years after that and there were 3. I doubt anyone at the beginning of the century could have predicted gm, ford, and chrysler.
I think crypto is viable, but who will last I have no idea. Governments are also putting a lot of pressure to be involved with tracking and so forth. The whole purpose of bitcoin was to evade tracking for drug purchases on the Silk Road. I have used it for purchasing vitamin S, but not for anything legal.

    I agree...and not just because she's sexy.
    This is totally speculative.
Gotta do it "classic", like Warren Buffet...investigate, invest, stay with it. The Snowball

Most of those that go into cryptocurrency, are getting duped and dumped.
Just ask my friend who asked me for thousands after taking a wash on bitcoin. (no, I didn't...and I don't hang with him now...that's too much of an ask)

I'll be at the Berkshire-Hathaway Shareholders Annual Meeting in Omaha for the next couple of days.
For any interested, CNBC will be doing a live telecast of the event starting Saturday.

Fun, but exhausting! My first investing mentor (from when I lived in Boston) always attends and stays at Lied Lodge in Nebraska City About Arbor Day Farm since all Omaha rooms are booked years in advance for the week. Picked up him and his wife and drove toward Omaha, left my car at a friend's in suburban O took a lift downtown. Saw quite a few friends and acquaintances that go every year. My investing ideas follow Buffett's pretty closely, although my BRK-B is down a little bit.

It's going to be rough sledding for a while.
This could be starting a period of several years with very small if any positive market returns.
