It sounds like your adventure was in relatively populated areas.
I have found that Apple Maps has some serious blind spots in rural northern NY.
I sometimes am driving south from Potsdam (near the Canadian border) to get back to our home.
It takes about 3.5 hours and there are a variety of routes that come in around that time but they all involve very rural areas.
If I ask Apple Maps for the best route it always comes up with something that will take 5 1/2 hours.
It either can't see the rural roads or it won't offer them as part of the route.
Google seems to be superior at least in that part of the state.

We had a meeting at work about safety procedures, and had to sit through a slideshow of various hazards. I snickered to myself when the topic of spills and toxic chemicals came up, because smack dab in the middle of the screen was my avatar, minus the googly eyes, of course.

Pretty sure no one noticed me. Would have been a difficult explanation.

"Do you find the risk of chemical burns amusing?"

"Not as such, no... but it's like this..."

 

I deleted my Vimeo account today. It was a long time coming, but necessary. (Vimeo was where I was initially uploading my videos)

For years, it was an acceptable platform. It was free, but they always informed their users that we could pay them for perks. The only perk they offered was priority processing for any video files you uploaded. (When you uploaded a file, it would take some time to process before it was available for viewing- although the website claimed it could take as long as 24 hours, it usually took 2-3 hours at most.)

Since I was not racing any deadlines, I never opted to give them anything. All I had to do was wait, and my files would come through eventually. Giving Vimeo money was of no benefit to me whatsoever.

A few years ago they decided to use harsher measures to snag cash from their users; they announced that there would be no more free accounts, and no one could upload any more files until they parted with some moola. I had 10GB of files over the new limit, but these were still available- I just couldn't upload any more new material.

By this time, I had discovered other avenues, like SmugMug, so again- giving them money was unnecessary.

Then yesterday I received an email stating that unless I gave them money, they would be locking me out of most of my videos and only a select few would be accessible.

I told them to be fruitful and multiply (but not in those exact words) and pulled the trigger.

I'm slowly locating the clips and uploading them elsewhere. The bottom line here is that if you're browsing a thread and I had a video link in it that's no longer active, let me know and I'll try to link it up with the new address.

 

That sucks. I hope you don't lose any material important to you.

I can imagine something similar to:

"I'm only asking for one file, it contains the only footage of my grandmother's funeral. She raised me, & I really loved her."

"You loved her? The price just tripled."

 

I never uploaded anything I didn't already have a digital copy of, so I've not lost anything- it's just a matter of finding where on earth I stored it (I have four different individual hard drives for storage, and a healthy stack of data discs. Very slowly I'm transferring files, but I either run short of time or get bored with the monotony of it all, so it's a laborious process.)

Your joke reminded me of something similar I saw elsewhere; a video clip from a Batman video game where the main character was delivering a serious beatdown on a random thug with machinegun rapidity:
