Very pointless, but I had a moment and I wanted to share it-

As a matter of course, I always use Google Maps to get me home as quickly as possible. I know the way home, but if there's a shortcut, I want to use it. Sometimes I can save myself 30 minutes if traffic is ridiculously bad.

That said, yesterday the app told me to take a route I had never used before. For a period, I was worried as to where I was going, as this was utterly new territory- I was on roads I'd never seen before.

The areas were so different, I had that feeling that I was on a road trip driving through faraway states. I saw canals, quaint neighborhoods and secluded spots that looked like rather inviting fishing holes.

I would bet the areas looked even better when the leaves & greenery come back soon. I may be tempted to take this scenic route again even if it costs me a few extra minutes.

For those interested, the areas were Romeoville, Lemont and Willow Springs in Illinois.
