I'm thinking the story behind the wife's relationship with her daughter is complicated & strained.

A message board I was a long-time member of just got unplugged permanently. I can still contact the two members who were still around, but I'm feeling the loss, as it was a happy place for me to visit for about a decade or so.

I'm running out of internet places to visit.

Very gradually I've been unable to access the TFP anywhere except my home desktop computer. Years ago I could check out the board anywhere. Recently, I couldn't see it during breaks at work, but this was no emergency. Lately I haven't been able to access it anywhere except my home, and as of this week even my phone tells me the site took too long to respond.

My internet crapped out last week, and although we have a new router and provider, I'm still running on the old network because my computer can't get to it.

I had to replace our home thermostat twice in one day because the first replacement ran on Wi-Fi and our house wiring lacks the capability. Luckily the hardware stores still carry the old-fashioned thermostats that aren't programmable and don't have to connect your phone just to heat & cool your house.

There are days when I just hate technology.

fflowley Don't just do something, stand there!

    It's really out of control.
We have a little summer cabin by a local lake that we use 4 months a year.
We don't have TV or Internet there.
We have to be very careful when we replace appliances because many ranges and ovens, for example, now demand a Wi-Fi connection to use anything beyond basic features.

And best of all: I was told years ago by my dentist that I need to use an ultrasonic toothbrush.
Fair enough, I think it was around $40 or $50 back then and I got at least 10 years out of it.
Last year I lost it on vacation and needed a replacement.
I looked at models priced from $40-$80 then saw a bunch of models well over $100.
I was curious about why those were so much more expensive.
    You know why?
Because they have an app for your phone that they connect to.
    An app.
    For brushing your freaking teeth.
    I kid you not.

I'm not surprised at all. We had our AC & furnace replaced last year. The control will function manually, but is also configured for a wide variety of functions using Wi-Fi. I do admit some make sense, like cool (or heat) your home to a comfortable level when you're on your way home from work, rather than waste energy all day.

I hope this doesn't merge with my above post.

    *****

Somewhere here I posted about having issues with my left forearm: Broken radius bone (healing nicely), permanently severed radial artery (will never heal), & extensive muscle damage. Oh, I'm also dealing with a blood clot in my left leg.

All of the above happened/were discovered/were treated when I had no health insurance. Since then I've started my SS benefits, & Medicare coverage.

I've been jumping through hoops trying to organize/arrange:
    --Physical therapy.
--Find a primary care physician to follow-up on my blood clot.
--Get SS to correct their mistake on my bank account.
--Get my way out of date vehicle inspection sticker taken care of (yes, this totally on me).
--Find a handyman service to make some repairs to our house to satisfy our insurance company.
--Will pay a FORTUNE for some much needed plumbing repairs (which don't address all of our issues).

The dealership let me leave without telling me my vehicle DID NOT pass inspection. I found out at the window at the tax collector annex office (20 minutes round-trip drive, 30 minute wait).
After my return trip to the dealership to have the inspection re-done my back passenger side window stopped working. The electric motor makes noise, but the window doesn't move, hopefully just a derailment.

On the same afternoon our main oven started beeping (I couldn't make it stop), giving me an error for a bad control board. Turning the oven off for over five minutes then back on (three tries) didn't clear the issue. I can most likely replace the control board myself, but that is a ways down my priority list.

I spent 45 minutes on the phone (mostly on hold) with SS, only to be told I would have to get the account info corrected in person. After a 30 minute round-trip drive, & a 45 minute wait, I got it sorted out in 5 minutes.

And I'm still not done with the plumbing work, it needs the final testing, flush, & suction/vacuum.

And I have to go back to the county tax office get my actual sticker for my vehicle. This must be done there.

And I'm still trying to get the home repairs.

And I don't know what my PT schedule will be.

And I'm sure I've left some things out.
